Snyggve was killed today by 3 younger males.  RIP great king.  Born in 2010.

Bob Jr, the odds were stacked against him (3 on 1) but he went down fighting. Second pic shows the fatal blow to his back.

It's always sad, but for many of these guys it's the way they should go.  any male lion that makes it to their teens is a legend in my mind.  Ones that held onto prides that long?  incredible!!

Sad  It appears that Tryggve may also be dead as he hasn't been seen in 2 weeks.

Yes the Rangers said Trygvve likely was killed as well. Crazy how a legendary duo can be taken out over a period of weeks. Lion life is so brutal.

Edit.... confirmation from guides on the ground is Tryggve was killed the day before Bob Jr by members of the same coalition. 7 years this duo ruled Namiri Plains with an iron fist comes to an end. They met the fate they likely did to many lions themselves. Legends.

Footage of the fight. He got caught in an ambush, and they showed no mercy.

RIP. Went out fighting.

God this is painful to watch. I think I could actually hear his spine breaking at two points (0:42 and 0:55).

RIP to Snyggve and Trygvve. Life is brutal for lions indeed. Sad

Snyggve’s death has hit mainstream news, and “Serengeti lion king” is now a trending Google search.

There will apparently be a special burial organised by wildlife officials soon.

I've read a lot of outrage over the people that filmed this not stepping in to save him.  It's just not how conservation works.  I would love it if some of these people were able to wake up to the realities of humans that actually do intervene, and how harmful those people are.  Punishment for Poaching should be barbaric in nature.

Would anyone that's familiar with the coalitions in the Serengeti, happen to have any information on this particular group of male lions? They're stated to be the individuals that killed Snyggve and his bother.
