He really needs to get out of West and team up with Nkuhuma2016 Male and Talamati Male or with SBDM or Skorro Breakaway Male (is he still in the North?) or maybe with Kruger and S. Avoca or the 2 Nkuhuma Young Male (the other 1 is from the breakaway). There are many males for his selection but seems his decision to stay in the West is holding him back and taking a toll to his body.
I believe it is likely that he is in the later stages of TB, the main sign of this is his hip bones wearing through the skin. I think he no longer has the option to leave the western sector.
It’s a good chance they won’t accept him because he is weakened… he’s been threw a lot and he’s staying in the west because 1 he knows the west and 2 he cant really run too fast right now so it would be too dangerous to leave

Exactly, healthy duos like NK + Khanya / S.Avoca + KM most likely won’t accept a male who they see no benefit from. Hes not an additional force as he doesn’t have the right mindset, and he’s not going to be a major help in hunting anyways, not that they even need it.
Tumbela best move was to try it out with NK + Khanya when they went West and chased Mhangenis, instead he run from that initial reaction and prolly didn’t attempt to seek them out again, albeit much easier said then done being confident enough walking up to, two very capable males in great shape.
His best chance would be with a youngster who actually wants a companion, could be Nkuhuma breakaway boy, but he’s with his sister for now.
Tumbella, as a potential thriving male is history.
He is in such state, that to the healthy males, he has nothing to offer if it comes to joining them in a coalition and if he were to stand his ground on his own, he would be dispatched rather easily. While at the same time, he is still to healthy to join seriously ill lions.
His only real option right now is to stay in western sector. Where he is familiar with his surroundings and options, is in good standing with various prides and the PCmales aren't as aggressive towards roaming males like him. If he weathers the current health crisis, he may still have some good years ahead of him as a scavenger.
However, in that latest video his mental state worries me.
Sure I get that animals, even those competive or hunting eachother aren't constantly looking for fights. But in that clip, Tumbella seems to be completely catatonic, as if the hyena isn't even there.
For the hyena to lose its fear like that shows that he has been observing Tumbella for a while now and noticed something was up. Its like he was bitten by a snake or something.
There is also a trickle of fluids running down his neck that I cant immediately place. But I doubt its from an attack.
So perhaps we should focus more on hoping on a speedy recovery so he can return to his usual nomadic self. Rather than trying to puzzle together ways for him to become competive again.

I hope this doesn't come across as a random rant but while I know some people here aren't fond of talking about or debating the part of the dynamics involving the competition or possible competition between male lions, but damn, I'm glad WF exists because it is possibly the only place where such discussions happens in a healthy way.
In other places it's mostly "my lion beats your lion", or some similar nonsense and bias, never taking into consideration the implications here or basically nothing of value like "I hope coalition X is strong strong enough to hold on against coalition Y because they have lots of cubs" or "if lion X isn't strong enough to hold off the invaders, it won't be a bad thing, his cubs are independent already, new blood is welcoming", it's just "my badass favorite lion is bigger and stronger than yours and beats him in a fight", never taking into consideration how these clashes usually plays out, thinking the lions would meet in the UFC and fight a brawl to the death, ignoring how complex even a 2v2 competition can play out in chasings and stuff.
Anyway, I felt like writing this after seeing many eye-rolling takes about current Sabi Sands male lions ( mainly due to Kambulas ), on how "all current male lions in Sabi Sands don't hold a candle to the legends of the past, Mapogo, Matimba, Majingilane, Birmingham..." yeah, I'm the first to point out the Kambulas are late to the game, but the fact aside that they aren't in any obligation of being be as strong as people want, this is just a stupid take, Gijima, PCM, Ndhzengas... Are probably all around the same same strength of the so called legends, probably just a little weaker than some and a little stronger than others.
Anyway again, I'm glad we can talk about these things with actual depth and without blind "my lion beats yours" bias here, I think it's a normal topic of discussion in the dynamics after all, male lion competition, and something even the guides entertain themselves talking about, but unfortunately, outside WF, you are better ignoring any such discussions.
I hope she has a big litter I’ve read that the older the female the less cubs she’ll have but she’s at a good age still and she isn’t that stressed so I hope she has a big litter!

I can’t lie ever since I had my big argument on here it’s been very peaceful and everyone has been very respectful and I love how we can all share info and have good healthy debates with eachother without arguing and fighting and we all are respecting eachothers statements and opinions

Facebook and Instagram are a nightmare, the people there are so sensitive when discussing lion dynamics that I've been blocked by certain individuals simply when offering an additional nuance or alternative opinion. Unfortunately those sites are also the most immediate sources of information regarding what goes on there. For the most part this forum has been open to healthy debate even if sometimes it gets a little too aggressive for my liking.

How old is she?
I think she’s at least 12 years old
Thanks. Hopefully she can take her cubs. This lionesses was very good lionesses to her sister Gingerella. In the west with Gingerella, and plain camp male lions at almost eight years of age, and their daughters growing she would and hopefully will have a lot of support. Hopefully her cubs can be happy and grow. Only problem would be lionesses in the west now is Mahangenie, and Othowas. Hopefully Gingerella can help her.

Correct me If I am wrong but from what I can remember the older Ximunghwe lioness is not related to the Gingerella, is this true? Also with having an older lioness like the older Ximunghwe lioness (Selati's Daughter) is a plus for them as they have an experienced lioness and been more aggressive to other prides (Mangheni, Tsalala, Othawa and NK Breakaway) even though they only consist of 2 adult and 2 subadult. They are more or less the reason that some members of the said pride are deceased.

Gingerella is an Othawa if I am remembering correctly.
