When was this sighting?
Kinda strange he looks so thin after that giraffe carcass.
That was the first thing I thought too, went back and found the video of him on the giraffe carcass and he already looks a lil skinny on the backend. I imagine he was only on it for a day as I heard nothing about the rangers finding him on it the next day after, eventho they said they would try find him again.
U also have to remember he will be using up much more energy than normal with the injuries he’s carrying, and as we know he’s been travelling decent distances prolly trying to find his brothers.
Was K4 injured again? I’m looking at other sightings since he was injured and the wound on his face doesn’t look anywhere near as bad, infact u can hardly see it but that’s more so because of the camera positioning. It certainly wasn’t leaking blood like it is now. Add that onto Mel’s update of his leg ‘wasting away,’ his leg was definitely messed up before but he was atleast walking on it. Wasting away normally means serious infections have started to take place, sounds much more severe than the original injury.
K4 is one of the most magnificent lions in Sabi Sands and surely the most impressive looking out of all 6 brothers. His mane probably isn't even at its peak development, imagine him with 8yo.
A shame what happened, it reminds me a bit of Othawa Male's death, you could tell he was so impressive that any lioness would love to pass his genes through her bloodline, yet he died without doing it.

The same is very likely happening to K4.
We don't know that for sure. With all the mating Nkuhumas have done recently, it is likely that some of the potential cubs would be his. And it is not out of question they might get accepted by other males that a) mated with Nkuhumas b) BDM or any other male who would be just happy to stick around the pride. Very long shot a cub of his would make it, but still a chance even if this turn to be end for K4. Also we will probably never know that it happened as any cub born to Nkuhumas pride in upcoming month will have uknown father as many potential sires would be plausible - we can only include some as potentially more likely for particular litters based on actually observed mating but it is entirely plausible the respective lioness mated around with other males as well. Visual likeliness won't help much in that regard except maybe if there would be mini spitting image of K5 among them. And guesstimate by the looks, the cubs would have to grow enough to spot those resblances which is not given and sort of a longshot, unless a coalition firmly establish themselves as Nkuhuma pride males (some males mighht accept cubs, but excepting all males wondering around Nkuhumas would is very unlikely, plus they might always be newcomers who never mated with Nkuhumas so far).
Putting emotions aside, K4 comes from a well represented bloodlines, so him not passing on his genes further would not exactly be a set back for the genetic diversity of the Sabi Sands and other nearby populations.

If Mara helps why sabisand can’t ( in Kruger I understand )!!!! Even some anti infectious spray increase chance to survive 10-15 % maybe even more.
It’s different, lions in Sabi Sands don’t get poached, but the rare chance they do get snared, they get treated straight away, especially once they come back into Sabi Sands from Manyeleti. On top of that, they dragged that carcass he’s eating on here, back over to him, in my opinion that’s more than enough help.
I’m not a fan of vet treatment especially when the Kambulas largely outnumber all of the surrounding males. Let’s say vets treat K4, and as Mantimahles make a push to takeover Nkuhuma Pride, the Kambula males kill one of them, K4 included in killing the male. That is in no way fair.

Didn't know they help by moving the carcass close to injured lions. Good to know!
Another issue with this "genius" move is that there is now a scent trail heading straight to K4. Which may lead hyenas or rival groups straight to him.
