Clash with the Nwaswitshaka males perhaps? Read that they followed the Nkuhuma Pride into MalaMala recently.

Edit:

Other BDM looks to be in better condition

Djuma Dam Cam video to support the photos @Tonpa posted above. Southern BDM limping pretty badly on his back left leg.

It looks pretty bad. There also seems to be damage on his back and his testicle.
Offcource the nightcam may make things look worse than it is, but this may prove to be a decisive blow against them

That does look like more than 1 lion getting a hold of him.  Any sightings of the N'Was since this?

It looks like that he really got a beating by more than one lion

Everybody saying the BDM was caught in Mala Mala by the Ndhzengas but I found it difficult to believe that he would get caught in Mala Mala and move all the way north to Djuma, not even linking wiith his brother or the NK pride.

Regardless, if the Ndhzengas are the culprits, they did the dirty work for their "sons in law" and now the BDM need to link up, heal and move somewhere else, it is completely over for them in the north but as long as the bigger-maned male can recover, they'll have big chances of becoming territorial again, Manyeleti for example is out for the taken, countless easy options there.

Yeah except for the snares. There is a problem in that area and from what I've read  they cannot get a handle on the poaching. Nharu pride having difficulty with snares so hopefully BDMs stay out of there until humans can get a hold on the poaching.

Latest Mala Mala video. Brief shot of Both Ndzenga/N'Waswitshaka males and a Kambula lioness (K6?). Most likely before the alluded to encounter with BDMs. Kambula breakway lionesses with cubs.

@criollo2mil @Tr1x24 @Tonpa Some pretty good up close shots of the lioness with cubs (and the roaring one), can you identify whether the mother is K2 or K3?

The wounds seen on the nightcam luckily turned out to be mostly nothing. Though if that leg doesnt heal he is not likely to survive long on his own.

Thinking the same although he was quite lucky to only be damaged to that extent when seemingly pinned down by two males. Most likely the aggressors were distracted by females or the other BDM before they could do further damage that he may not have recovered from.
