There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Its possible Gingerella decided it was time to go home.
That the male lion saw her leave and mistakingly thought his sister was just going on a walk and prefered to join her for it. And then ended up following her all the way home.
Yes, that could be the case also, Junior are Gingerella prob have completely opposite ambitions/view at this point..
Sadly, male who followed Gingerella is in bad position now, if Gingerella tried to return to the pride, he will follow her, and Othawas and especially Tumbelas wont like that..
And if Gingerella get accepted, he will either be left alone or will be killed by Tumbelas..
I think he is too young for potential coalition with Nkuhuma male at this point..
Could also be (besides most probable random separation splitting them into two+ groups) that the less developed male followed his sister as a food provider, source of food maybe perhaps having that as a bigger priority than the other two. If it is the same one that stuck with Gingerella on a kill with NW male, maybe he has been more food focus, yet but oblivious towards (male) lion dynamics, doign what he has known all his life, following others to food and hold his spot on a kill.
I wouldn't be that surprised if he would be seen with NK again. Not necessary as a partner, NK is know to leave more suitable buddies (Big Boy), but NK might be more recpeptive to others now being alone and tolerate him around. Plus we don't know what kind of Mystery male or new myster males altogether could wander around.
Gingerella luckily is close to home and even if he stays as a lone female for a while, there is bit of a space to operate in, Tsalala and Ximhungwe are doing the same and while it is better to stay away from them, they are not as deadly as a full pride of females would be. And with no cubs atm it is not completely out of question she could be accepted in, happened before in western sector, not something that could be expected to happen, but once it happens once, you'll never know.
Still in western sector or did they moved further? Since Limper Tumbela is now with Ximunghwe female it would be very dangerous if they PC males are still around.

I asked the person who took that photo and he said that this picture was taken nearly 2 weeks' ago when PC Camps males were in MalaMala. So, maybe they are still in the western sector.

Those 3 younger females are mostly hanging on their own even before they had cubs, and now it only continues.
As you said, its easier for them to hunt for themselves, then competing with subadults who are getting bigger and eat more.
Also, now with cubs, they prob dont want them near subadults, as they might harm them im play, and there wont be much food for cubs from kills.
I dont think they will split for good soon, as they are pretty much in the same area, under same coalition and still reunite occasionaly.
