A true beast of male lion.

Yes, I absolutely agree. Shame about his 2 Tumbela  brothers, though. You know, Lambie is their brothers, he does look more like Skorro jr, in my opinion, except he's quite skinny at the moment. Anyway, we will see in 3 months if Tsalala female has new cubs from those mating sessions.

I can't wait to see new cubs in the Tsalala pride. This Tsalala lioness is rebuilding his natal pride with cubs sired by different males. Would be fantastic see that.

The three Tumbelas were in pretty poor condition when they arrived in the western Sabi Sands. So much so that they struggled to decisively depose an ailing, aging Hairy Belly. What caused the Dominant Tumbela to gain condition so well while his brothers still look so poor? Is it because of any illness or injury?

Happy birthday! It has now been a year since we first saw Southern pride female denning her 2 daughters, they were only a couple days old at the time when this pic was taken.
She has proven to be an excellent first time mother, and with the help of the N'waswitshaka males she has been able to raise her 2 daughters to the very important 1 year old mark. Let's hope that she's able to continue doing so for the next 2 years in order to rebuild her legendary pride!

First pic taken in August 2020

From 2nd pic onward, Lioness and her cubs on a kudu kill early Sunday morning  with a young zebra kill some distance away. She and the cubs were resting on top of the warm granite rocks all day.

Still in Kruger. Assuming they stay alive and in a dark spot, it may be months till we hear of them again.

The reason why Skorro is doing well where Scar and Limper are suffering is likely illness. But they are also the lowest in the pecking order so they have to do with whatever scraps Skorro, the lionesses or sometimes even the cubs leave behind.

Its looking bleak for them.

A young Plains Camp male gives chase across the Sand River pursuing a lioness from the Kambula Pride in oestrus. Dunno which one of the lionesses, but it could be the cubless one. Still, he needs to be careful.
