We spent a fair amount of time during this afternoon's Game Drive observing one of the Tumbela males mating with one of the Othawa females. He was doing all he could to keep her attention...

This guy is clearly in best shape of the 3 Tumbela males at the moment. It definitelly looks like he takes most (all) mating rights over Othawa females as of recent and seem to be the most dominant of the 3. I wonder how dominance will develop within that coalition when the other 2 males in the coalition will improve their condition to the same point as this guy above.
Ever since the Birmingham males took over Djuma in 2015 I expected their reign overall to last longer but sadly many unforeseen things happened in the way.

Blondie/Limping Tumbela male was seen getting busy with Junior's mom. This was posted 4 days ago on the Othawa Pride Facebook page, so it's clear that some of the lionesses are engaging in mock mating because all of the females have mated well over the amount of time that a lioness is usually in estrus. It's likely Blondie has had enough and now it's Skorro Junior's turn. In the beginning, the Scar-eyed male was mostly dominant over mating rights, but things have very clearly changed since the other 2 have caught up with him and have surpassed him in physical condition.
