Lions of Sabi Sands

"Six male lions laying out in an open area caused excitement among all rangers and guests. This many new male lions on the reserve is exciting but could spell trouble for the existing lions. The Styx Pride appear to be the first to have had a run in with the new boys on the block. The Styx Pride had been split and members found all over. Unfortunately, the remains of one of the Styx cubs were found. The Styx Pride then moved northeast and regrouped at the waterhole in front of Selati Camp. The pride now consists of two adults and seven sub-adults. Interesting times in the ever-changing lion dynamics lie ahead."

Any information about the composition of 7 remaining cubs?
When they were 8, it was 2M , 6F.
Hopefully female cubs would be safe.

If they stay in SS my guess is that they'll make quick work of the Gijima males, which is unfortunate since the southern lioness was extremely lucky her new dominant males accepted her daughters.

After finishing the Gijimas off, I think they'll go for the Ndzengas, and honestly, I doubt they'll put much of a fight. If that happens, the rest of the SS prides can only hope these males will be satisfied with their territory and prides, allowing them to finish raising whatever cubs they still have, though as 8, they'll for sure split and might end up taking over the entire reserve.
Seems like dreadlocks -nkhulu coalition already splits.
2 young boys head towards mala mala ( ndhzengas and kambula girls) while 4 nkhulu along with dreadlocks are in gijima males territory.

Yea, i dont think Dreadlocks is their leader, its prob opposite, he follows them.

He joined / got accepted by Nkuhlu breakaway pride earlier this year.

Breakaway's had hard time so far, they where abandoned by Mantimahles around mid 2020, few lionesses saved them from S129 males, as they where still too young to survive, and later they where avoiding 3 Mazithi/Tshokwane males who beat S129 around early 2021.

These guys are basically semi nomads/ nomads for more then 2 years, its actually quite remarkable how many of them survived to this point, they also have few sisters.

Again at MalaMala, they are scent marking, interesting:

Looks like there is 5 of them (not 6) and Dreadlocks (atleast on this video).

3 other brothers are split now for few months (those 3 might be ones who escaped Kruger).

@Tr1x24 these are the pictures of the Nkhula young males with their three sisters in Skukuza last month. The rangers told me that 6 Nkhula males and Dreadlocks (not pictured) were sighted.

They look like they're on the larger side as well. Imagine if they grow to a size similar to the PC Males.

Prior to the Othawa male death there really wasn't much happening in Sabi Sands. A lot has changed in the last 12-18 months.

I have the feeling nomadic coalitions in that area typically end up veering towards Londolozi.

From there they may move west. Though with the rise of the PCmales and the collapse of the Avocas. The north may now be the path of least resistance. Which may be bad news for the Avocas.
