No, these 2 males are waay too young to take a fight vs dominant male.. even if they can win in 2 vs 1 (which is very questionable, even in a 2 vs 1,dominant and experience male as Nhenha can easly injure one of them to the point that they will just run away) , they will never take that fight at this stage, they are barely 3 yrs old..

I've never seen a video of lions this young stand against dominant male, they always run away, good example is Scar Nose chasing away 3 Tsalala and 1 Avoca from the kill, so thats 4 lions, and they where older then this 2 boys.

But agree with @Potato, if those where 4 N'ws, they might not be impressed by only 1 dominant male..

Very often they do if they find themselfs in situation 2vs1 (like Ross males vs Mabande and against Giraffe male, Monwana males vs Black Dam male and so on). Very rarely it happens when with equal numbers, but sometimes it does when youngster(s) is/are powerfull indyvidual like Charlestons or Mbiris.

All those mentioned lions where older then this 2 males, they where atleast 4 yrs old and already nomadic for some time and in the phase of searching for their territory, this 2 are not in that phase yet..

It doesn't work that way. The single male is always on lossing position as he can not protect his flanks. There is no way Nhenha (or bassicly any other lion) could injure two 3 years old youngsters in 2vs1 fight. He would at least took a beating like Salati male once took from 2 young Birminghams and I would be not suprised at all if it would end up worst for Birmingham male.

BBoys where 4.5 - 5 yrs old when they fight 1 Selati male..

It doesn't work because i've never seen a 3 yrs old lions stand and fight against dominant male, even if they have numbers, they will always run away, and thats because they know that dominant male can seriously injure them..

Even in a 2 vs 1, dominant male will grab one and seriously injure him before the second one can put damage, they dont have the power..

Mbiris weren't yet 4 when they beat up Mapoza males and just over 3 when they chassed single Mapoza male. Charleston male was just over 3 when he fought Sand River male. Othawa male was just over 3 when he was roaring in Londolozi. I do not remember when Ross males were born, but in mentioned fight they were yet nearly maneless youngster. Also there we speak about defending themself, not terrytorial challange so also different kind of situation.

Singita may update
  • There have been some particularly interesting happenings with the lion dynamics over the past month which has been quite exciting to observe.
  • Firstly, we found the Othawa male lion mating with an unknown female who we later found out was one of the Nsevu/Kambula pride females. Although this is an exciting prospect, we have come to learn that this female in particular has attempted to mate a number of times but has proved to be unsuccessful in producing any litters.
  • The second exciting observation we made this month was the presence of the young Nkuhuma male lion alongside the Styx pride. With the Styx pride already consisting of one sub-adult young male also fathered by the Birmingham male lions, this integration could hopefully bring some success to the younger males thus being able to become a potential coalition in the years to come.
  • The Nkuhuma pride have made a few more appearances on the property over the past month as it seems the Avoca male lions are beginning to move further into southern parts of their territory.

Mbiris where almost 4 when they chased Mapoza, Ross males where almost 4.5 - 5 yrs old (born early 2011) when they fight Trilogy and Giraffe males (mid to late 2015).

Othawa male to this day at over 5 yrs old runs away from single BBoy, even if he has the size..

It depends of the single individuals, but 3 yrs old lions will 99% of the time run away from dominant male..

Some lions over 4 yrs old will run away, even if they have numbers..

These 2 in a half a year might not run, because they are very big lions, we'll see..
