Finally some great news.

I hope Tintswalo put out some vlog soon with details about the fight.

Could have been 1vs1 RRM vs Tintswalo male and when the other Tintswalo joined the fight, RR run off.

Could be, would explain why Mandevu was so beaten up, but we dont know, hope we get some info and pictures of RRM's injuries, he was looking worse of the 3 apperantly, so definitely both Tintswalos attacked him together at some point.

If he is "fine" he likely managed to escape the beating early on and ran of.
He must have been quite shaken mentally though. I wonder if the reason we haven't seen him is because he decided to abandon his claims to avoid a round two?

He was seen next day and described as badly injured and barely walking, lying in one spot, i think his word "fine" means that they located him and he is recovering well, fight happened around 10 days ago.

He prob hide somewhere in thickets and keep low profile until he recovered a bit.

Looks like Mandevu/The bigger-maned Tintswalo male. He had some bite marks on his back legs as per recent reports.

I’ve seen pictures of the post battle condition of both Ncila and Mandevu that show there was significant damage (Mandevu had bite marks to his face and both rear legs; ncila had a very ugly injury to his face over left eye and smaller wound to opposite side of the face) to me it indicates an engaged opponent, not a retreating one.  I’m convinced it was 2 v 1.  I don’t have permission to share the images, maybe the photographer will share publicly soon.  In seeing the condition of the two Tintswalos , I was very concerned for RRM with what I could imagine he looks like himself.  Still very worried actually

I've been interested in lions for a while now and one thing I'm not a fan off is when male lions fight. The brutality of it is horrible. Yes I know it happens and it's what Lions have to do to be successful but definitely not something I enjoy watching or hearing about especially if it's a threat to cubs as well or there's horrific injuries or death. I hope the Tintswalo boys recover ok and especially the Red Road Male who has done really well without a coalition partner.

Its sad to hear, but their often early death is a crucial part in keeping their numbers and gender ratio healthy. If they all were to live long lives, the killing of cubs and other big cats would likely skyrocket.

Yea, thats the "dark" side of these animals, its pretty much numbers game (in comparison to leopards), you can be biggest /strongest male around, but if you are outnumbered, you will lose..

I think the Imbali male is doing the best out of all single dominant males in Sabi sands/Manyeleti. He’s got the Imbali pride of 21 lions and half of the Talamatis under his control.

He apparently also controls the Imbali breakaway pride in the Mluwati concession, although given his recent territorial shift he might have lost control of that pride
