Lion Predation

Two of the Four Nomads chased and bought down a buffalo today during our Big Cat Photo Safari here in the Maasai Mara. It's an encounter seldom seen, so we were priveleged to have witnessed it. It follows on from yesterday's aardvark and Tuesday's wild dogs and rhinos. It's been a remarkable week so far.

January 2016 Rooikop. I was one of 2 people to see this sighting. Jan of 2016 was epically hot, 52 degrees. This kill happened late morning. It was a massive struggle as a lioness stalked and brought down this starving oryx, but still needed the help of 2 huge males who showed up from behind us, seemingly out of nowhere! Just demonstrates the struggle for all species to survive. After the hard fight to finally kill this huge antelope, the two males dragged it right towards Nick Rabjohn and I to shade! I could hardly believe our luck!! They practically delivered it right to us!!
