Hello @Shadow I know you are doing some Research about big cat predation on rhino. I have one here where two male lions have killed an adult female white rhino. We don’t know the health or age of the rhino. I think it can as the guide says happen a miracle once in a blue moon, but the lions where two individuals. I do not belive a lone lion could have done it. Rhinos imo are far too formidable animals, but anyways here isn’t the link and story.... :)
Two male lions with their rhino kill We also spotted a male lion in the tall grass and as we approached, we realized that two brothers had managed to kill a fully grown female rhino. Looks like one of the best terrains for lions to be able to make surprise attack and have that slight edge with a rhino. I think, that in open field and shorter grass it would be much more difficult for lions to ambush rhino, even though their vision isn´t best possible. If rhino can get confused somewhere, I would bet, that in that kind of long grass possibilities are high.
