So it was Aslan who jumped on that video? That jump wasn´t the thing which I found surprising, but how he didn´t let go and was hanging there like that :) Even though it is very clear, that they have strong jaws, that was impressive. They should measure biting forces in situations like that, results might be surprising too...

That jump wasn´t the thing which I found surprising, but how he didn´t let go and was hanging there like that :) Even though it is very clear, that they have strong jaws, that was impressive. They should measure biting forces in situations like that, results might be surprising too...
Yes it is very impressive, usually it was his smaller brother who jumped, but it was always especially impressive when this guy jumped, to see it with your own eyes is spectacular. The whole tower you stand in when you do the presantation shakes when he hits the bait.
About #556: 255 kg ? This lion must be really big-sized, because it doesn't seem to be fat at all.
He was big yes, somebody had a video of him being weighed on youtube. The animal park had a TV show in Norway, and had we had a competition between him and the tiger, to see who was heavier. And it was filmed.
But he was weighed many times as part of training and to check opon his and the other lions, cheetahs and tigers condition

Yes and 255 kg hanging there like that afterwards. And thinking, that it is only 45 kg from 300 kg.... he might not be fat if that much more, at least not much. Seeing this and him makes it for me easy to believe to that one 272 kg lion in wild. In good conditions it is at least nothing impossible. Some lazy domestic cattle eater actually might reach 300 kg in very good situation for a lion and still be in some shape. Maybe somewhere around 300 kg is that kind of limit, that if weighing more, then belly starts to close up ground....

I don’t remember the weight in the video, but he was between 200-112 kg.
