Might be, but that was a good finding, it was interesting video in more than one way :) Even though that gnu for sure wouldn´t see any humor in that.... but, that´s life, it is impossible to make everyone pleased :)

A Lion Pride hunted an adult Elephant.

I wonder if that footage is only one (at least in youtube) where it can be actually seen when big cats are taking down elephant. About rhinos there are some videos or maybe from same situation, where pride of lions was trying to attack a rhino for a moment. But other than this and that, I don´t remember any photo or footage, where lion or tiger would challenge those giants. It would be interesting to see if someone can link here something.

Hello @Shadow I know you are doing some Research about big cat predation on rhino. I have one here where two male lions have killed an adult female white rhino. We don’t know the health or age of the rhino. I think it can as the guide says happen a miracle once in a blue moon, but the lions where two individuals. I do not belive a lone lion could have done it. Rhinos imo are far too formidable animals, but anyways here isn’t the link and story.... :)

Two male lions with their rhino kill

We also spotted a male lion in the tall grass and as we approached, we realized that two brothers had managed to kill a fully grown female rhino. Our guide, Pule, was beside himself because he didn't think that a pair of relatively inexperienced lions (they know all the lions in the reserve by name) could take down a rhino, but as he said, "Miracles do happen".

But look at terrain there. Relatively long grass and perfect also what comes to color for lions. Looks like one of the best terrains for lions to be able to make surprise attack and have that slight edge with a rhino. I think, that in open field and shorter grass it would be much more difficult for lions to ambush rhino, even though their vision isn´t best possible. If rhino can get confused somewhere, I would bet, that in that kind of long grass possibilities are high.

@Shadow :

About #549: yes, I don't know if we can speak about courage or bravery as concerns these three lions without being anthropomorphic. I know it's certainly unconscious, but each of them owns a huge pair of rocks...

Well.... not all dogs are suitable to be used in military or police duty. There are individuals backing off and individuals never running away from side of owner. So I think, that we can talk about boldness in certain way without a doubt.
