There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Lioness displaying thick winter coat in Aquila Private Game Reserve, South Africa.

This Reserve is on a high plateau in the far south of South Africa, close to Cape Town. It can even snow here in winter, which gives you a good example of the climate Cape lions would've lived through.

Just two suggestions to the owners of this private reserve, one ease up on the treats, and two invest in a treadmill.

It's almost like Cape lions have made a return to the region, even if it's not completely wild. It would've been a treat to see wild Cape lions in such a climate, same with lions that lived in the neighbouring country of Lesotho which also has a cold climate similar to this, but it's even colder and gets more heavy snow in winter.

The bulky Mahiwa boy "Dark mane", is the spitting image of his father Kwandwe, this boy is more active in particular patrolling his territory while Blondie stays closer to the pride.

Skoti or Sekoti as it is called this young male lion, son of the Selinda males the legendary  Savute "Sekekama and Torn Nose" and younger brother of the 3 northern males "Tsekedi, Pretty boy and Blondie"... Currently Sekoti is trying to take over the Marsh pride area dominated by his parents/uncles, but Pretty boy one of the older brothers also has the same pretensions!

Tsekedi the rebellious son of the Selinda males and one of the three Northern pride males although in reality his behavior is quite calm, according to rangers and photographers in the area Tsekedi is a very calm lion you would think he would be peaceful, although when there are intruders he is one of the first to charge!
