There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

The video you posted is very impressive !

If I can advise you to put this video on the " Felids Interactions - Intraspecific Conflicts" topic, it is the perfect case of a intraspecific conflict because a buffalo corpse...

Your request is already granted and Yeah @Spalea that's really impressive that young male was really tough and put up a good fight, on the other hand his brother ( or coalition partner ) wasn't confident enough and fled. Amazing video.

Yes, the young male put up a good fight, but I seriously feared, while I watched the video, that the dark-maned lion killed him.

Yeah it was a powerful choke even the youngster's multiples hind legs scratches to the face wasn't pushing that Adult male around but I had a feeling the youngster would be fine, these creatures are really tough/durable, but if the other adult male returned he would be doomed unless his other young brother gives him a helping hand in order for them both flee and the fact is... that buffalo carcass was no longer theirs.

James Tyrell: " This was rather an unusual one, in that two unrelated prides were feeding off the same buffalo carcass. One was a semi-established pride with a couple of older females, the other a group of newly independent 2-year olds.

Although there was a bit of growling between the two groups, there was far more tolerance than one would from rival prides.
No cubs were there and all that was at stake was a meal, which was effectively big enough for all to share.
In this situation the risks of active conflict were outweighed by the benefits of tolerance and a meal.
That night when all had had their fill, each pride simply walked off in opposite directions into the darkness... "

Nelis Wolmarans: " When everyone wants the lion’s share. We stumbled upon five young male lions who happened to catch a relatively small warthog right in front of us. "
