There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

We discussed about heteropaternal superfecundation multiple times on this forum.

Although it happens on some animals, cats aswell, its not yet very well researched, in fact, for lions is not at all.

Could be yes.

I mean, is there any evidence, photo or what, that these 3 are littermates?

Idk, but a lot of these claims like who are littermates with who, look like they just all of suden come from thin air, with no proof to support it

Unless there are some extreme differences in how sex works for lions compared to cats or what we are off today. Its safe to assume that it happens with lions aswell.

Afterall. It would require evolution to completely rewrite how the vagina works to prevent sperm from the second partner from entering the womb while if anything lionesses are evolutionary pressured into not doing that.

It actually makes me worry a bit more.  I'd hate to see anything happen to any of these lions.  I just wish the Talamati's had moved off at some point.  2024 is going to have some loss.  There are just too many lions in a small space now.

Latest Londolozi Virtual Safari. 5 lionesses of the core Kambula/Ntsevu pride with the three youngest cubs and at least 7 (that I could count) of the older cubs.

Clarification: Sean said these are the three youngest cubs of the Ntsevu pride but they are the youngest of the CORE pride, not the three new cubs born to the breakaway lioness (K2 or K3).
