Kambula/Ntsevu Pride - BA0701 - 05-25-2022

This thread is for posting Kambula Pride specific posts. This will include breakaway prides (until they've re-established themselves and received a name of their own, as well as nomadic males who have left the pride until they have met the same criteria.

Our hope is for these pride specific threads to become a central repository for information pertaining to specific prides, both historical and current, in the same vane as the coalition specific threads.

RE: Kambula Pride - Tr1x24 - 05-26-2022

Short history of Kambula pride :

Kambula pride are 6 females born in Mhangeni pride in 2013, sired by Majingilane males. They also had 3 brothers, who went nomadic in 2016, 1 was killed by Charleston males while other 2 disappeared into Kruger.

Around 2016 they breakaway from their mothers, and become Kambula (Ntsevu in Londolozi) pride.

They where very aggressive and big females, in those years they "pushed" out and around smaller Sparta and Tsalala prides and took portion of their territory.

From around 2016-2018 they hanged with multiple coalitions such as Matshapiris, S. Matimbas, S. Avocas and even their fathers, but they found first succes in early stages of 2018 with arrival of 4 Bboys from the north.

In those years they where also responsible for killing few other lionesses such as 1 Sparta female and legendary Tailess Tsalala female (their grandmother) and seen even attacking one of their mothers from Mhangeni pride.

From mid 2018 to mid 2019, 5 females gave birth to Bboys offspring, 1 female is infertile. They where super pride at that time, counting more then 20 members.

In 2020 some of the females came back to estrus, and where producing 2nd generation of Bboys cubs thru 2020-21. But Bboys where down to only 2 those times and where starting to get pressured and losing portion of their territory to other neighboring coalitions, such as N. Avocas and lone OM, 2 females even accepted N.Avocas. Instability, which resulted that majority of cubs during that period didn't survive.

Bboys however, managed to defeat invading OM in May 2021, prob with help of Kambula females.

In late 2021, Bboys get final blow as 4 Ndhzenga males from the south invaded their territory, Tinyo disappeared at that time, leaving Nhenha alone, he went nomadic shortly after. N. Avocas where also pushed back north and away from Kambula pride.

In early 2022, most Kambula females, with few younger females accepted Ndhzengas males, except 2 older females who run away with latest offspring of Bboys, once 11 those cubs where shrinked to 4, their future is uncertain.

We also have breakaway group with few younger females and young males.

Core of the pride started mating with Ndhzenga males few months back, so cubs are expected soon.

RE: Kambula Pride - RookiePundit - 05-27-2022

It is actually the other way around, Londolozi calls them Ntsevu and Mala Mala Kambula and in this case Mala Mala's name caught on, at least online. Awesome summaries in these threads, man, thank you!

"Satiated after a kill. We almost missed her, concealed in the bushes--her, another lioness in her pride, four cubs, and what was left of a large kudu. "

Saw a video on RangerStu’s IG stories (since expired) that showed the Two Kambula Mothers of the last 4 Birmingham cubs….but only three cubs were seen again.   Anyone have any new information regarding this group?

No new information on them. The rangers have been asked but no replies. I hope that female cub survives. There are 3 females and 1 male from the last 4 cubs if anyone didn't know.
