The last Cougar I saw was very close to me about 20 meters I was looking for him and suddenly we heard a little noise that came from a tree very high it was a Ocelot that escaped from the Puma and when I turned my vision I saw this large Cougar that looked directly to me and I really did not do much I had a camera but I did not use it, he just turned his back on me and I did nothing with my camera but took a few pictures of the Ocelot and a little video. I will never forget that day, hope some other day I can see another Cougar so close and take a pictures of it.

I don't encourage you to go Venezuela to see jaguar. It is very dangerous these days, and even biologists in Venezuela are not going outside to see animals. One of biology professor in my university. He is from Venezuela. He told me not to go visit Venezuela just like my Venezuela friend said to me. He told me story of VEnezuelan biologists are staying inside of home and city becuase many of them had experiences of robbing or met a gangs. The funniest story was the one of his friend, who is ornithologist. He (probably with other biologists along with him as well) was in field to check bird's nest, but he met group of middle school teenagers put guns on him or them. They were like "should we kill these guys? Nahh, polices can come after us since city is about 5 mins away. I don't want to clean up dead bodies after I shot them." That is the only reason why he came back alive, and him and others who were with him are not going field to see birds. I heard this is pretty normal in Venezuela unless if you are living in rich people area. You can live 1 year with 30~40 dollars in Venezeual today, even polices are trying to take money from you if you are foreigner. I hope Venezuela's situation would be better. I really want to go visit Angel fall, Los Llanos, Mount Roraima, and Orinoco Delta. My professor said you can go visit Angel fall safely if you call guide, but it will be really expensive. epaiva Which place is better between Pantanal vs Los Llanos? I heard Los Llanos is way cheaper than the Pantal, not even half price, but it is equal of watching wildlife in Pantanal. You can see green anaconda and river dolphin in Los Llanos, while Pantanal don't have those animals. Pantanal is the best place to see jaguar and giant otter, but very expensive. And when is the dry and rainy seasons in Los Llanos? The Pantanal have a rainy season between December to March and a dry season is May to October. I think Los Llanos is opposite from Patanal. Madidi National Park in Bolivia is good place to see wild jaguar. I am sure you probably need a guide and stay at least 7 days to see wild jaguar.
Madidi National Park has diverse environments: glacier in high Andes Mountains, clouded forest, and tropical rainforest. These are Amazonian jaguars, they are smaller than the Los Llanos jaguars & Pantanal jaguars, but I heard they are prettier. The Pantanal jaguar is the biggest and baddest, but many of them are ugly, especially for male. Not sure of Los Llanos jaguar since they are elusive. I am more interested in jaguars from other areas besides Pantanal since they are shy, mysterious, and difficult to find them like jaguars in Los Llanos, Atlantic forest, Cerrado, Caatinga, Amazon rainforest, Orinoco delta, and others. I tend to get a lof of heat because I don't hold back on calling hyenas ugly, and there are others that usually do that distinction with Asian lions. The first is making a clear differentiation between the two, while the second is just open to interpretation. You're a big cat enthusiast, and to answer your question, I personally like grayish lions with yellowish underparts, uncovered shoulders and big faces more than plain colored ones with proportioned faces and half the body covered by the mane. Am I implying to you that ones are superior to the others? Nope. But most importantly, you'll most probably know what type I'm referring to. But if I had said instead "I like pretty lions more than ugly lions", I don't think you'll know which ones I'm referring to. Saludos.
