I actually looked closer that how perspective/projection have effect and I take back a little bit what I said. I took some photos with an obstacle and one boot in front of it and one behind. Still I feel safe to say, that this tiger has more snow under feet than this woman and in those cases, when it is really close to fence it is 5-10 cm higher than that woman. That combined to projection, which "lifts" its shoulders in comparison with that woman is a difficult combination and creates easily an illusion even bigger animal, than it is.

Just for curiosity I tried again to get some estimation what it might be, my best guess/estimation is something around 110 cm shoulder height. If that woman really is 180 cm tall, I wonder where that information is from? If someone knows that, then maybe also could tell what zoo and tiger this is. It would be really nice to get more information, because I am curious how close my estimation is or is. Maybe I have to find similar footage from some other animal, which is well know with measurements :)

I reply to myself :) In that video is claimed, that mean height of women in Czech Republic would be 172 cm. That is not true. I don´t think, that there is any country in the world with such mean height for women. Various sources give mean height 167 cm, what comes to women from Czech Republic. So I guess, that we have no idea about height of that woman on that video(?). She could be 160, 170 or 180 cm or anything in between.... slim woman looks taller in footage like that. I write this just to point out how difficult task it is to estimate size from footage like this, where there is nothing reliable to use as base to make estimations. And also to point out how unreliable source youtube posters are... they make many times quite inaccurate claims and looks like, that not always by accident. Reply

This is Amur tiger 'Igor' from the Odense zoo (Denmark). You can find him on the internet. Quite a celebrity, he was.

My guess is 'Igor' compared to the Duisburg zoo tiger. Measured 'between pegs', that male was 320 cm. in total length (head and body 210 cm. and tail 110 cm.). When standing, the Duisburg zoo tiger was 110 cm. at the shoulder (measured). In his prime, he was estimated at 280-300 kg.

Some years ago, tiger 'Igor' from Odense was treated when he struggled with dental issues. This means he was sedated. I don't know if he was measured and weighed, but in the report below (in Danish) they said he was 300 kg. (662 pounds):

These tigers look good, robust, not fat. I sometimes think about it, that in what weights big cats start to be too heavy when thinking about surviving in wildlife. Lion in pride can maybe afford to be slowed down a bit by weight, but for solitary animal it might be a different thing. Many stories about exceptional individuals seem to include man eating or domestic cattle eating etc.

For a tiger 300 kg, when looking at these photos, is quite ok weight, I think. Reply
