Do you hear of this ferocious battle in Ethiopia ? Of course, it is getting a bit old (1999), but it might be spectacular...

i have read somewhere about mugger crocodiles and bengal tigers confrontations.
On the lands, tiger would easily kill mugger crocodile but in water, especially when tiger is thirsty, it could be ambushed by croc
I know tigers predating on croc but in the opposite, do we have proofs croc also predate on tiger?
The last source proven a saltwater croc fought all the night and eventually eat a sunderban tigress (?)
Saltwater croc is much longer than his mugger cousins and sunderban is also much smaller than an healthy bengal tiger
Both animal likes water, so i guess confrontations between these two apex predator, wouldn't be so rare

I always think about battles between apex predators like sporting events between the two best teams. They play 10 times, it's probably 5-5 or 6-4.

I would bet more on tiger side, its impressive how Machli fought and killed a 4 meters full grown croc so easily
On the land, there is a mismatch in favor of tiger
I think mugger croc isnt powerful/big enough to confront a wild male tiger
I would see saltwater croc vs big tiger male (sunderban male is twice smaller than a full grown nothern bengal male for example)
But both are apex predators, that means they would avoid each other

The faint chill in the air on the early morning drive of 8th of Sept 2016, hinted towards the impending winters, while the lush green washed foliage signaled the departure of monsoons. No better time to be in the forest! The customary drive from the kolara gate through the Jamni meadows and the panderpauni waterholes, betrayed no signs of the movement of the large felines or any other carnivores. Our collective intuition however, led us towards the Navegaon gate as Maya was lately seen passing through the very same landscape. Ten minutes into the drive we observed scores of herbivores merrily grazing along the way with an occasional sounder of Wild pigs alongside startled newborns in toe. To our gleeful surprise, we came across a pair of courting wild dogs on the road alongside a depleting rivulet. Oblivious of their surroundings, the usually vigilant dholes were mindless of not only our presence but also of something else that lurked nearby.

Whilst trying to capture this unique animal behaviour, We noticed a slight flutter in the grass ahead. As if almost on cue, the hair on my back stood up in rhythmic excitement as the reality of the situation dawned upon me. I was sure I saw stripes.

Camouflaged perfectly, she lay silently waiting for the unsuspecting couple to move into striking distance. With shivering hands and fervent anticipation, I hurriedly set up my camera to record this remarkable natural history moment that was about to unfold in front of my eyes.

What happened next was going to be etched in our memories forever. Synonymous to a lightning strike, the tigress leaped towards the ill-fated dog with unbridled fury. A fraction of a second and a paw swipe later, she delivered a
deathly bite to the dhole's jugular.

Maya's face drenched in blood, mouth moving in a periodic panting motion, the tigresses' eyes peered feverishly for the fortunate male who escaped within an inch of his life.

Truly Darwinian in nature, the unrelenting laws of the wild gave us a reality check and reaffirmed our belief in its unpredictability.
