Sightings Update. 05 November. Afternoon drive. - We left the lodge only to find some general game such as Zebra, Nyala, Wildebeest and many other around. We started following leopard tracks all over but had no luck and decided to stop for a lovely sundowner drink. As we were coming to the end of our drive we managed to locate Tingana up in a tree with a newly made kill. We were about to leave him until one of the Styx pride female's pitched up. She went up in the tree and had a little fight with poor Tingana. Aboout #182: I come just to discover this very cruel video (But it's the life, the wild life, the struggle of life and so on...). The first hyena was clearly an opportunist predator which wanted to eat as fastly as possible while the leopard held firmly the warthog's neck. After the guide told the warthog was stilla live when the both hyenas were devouring its backside... Once again unfortunate warthog's cruel death.
If you unfortunately encounter a tiger in the wild.
DO NOT: run away because, Their prey does that or just don't turn and run tigers always run faster than you. No matter how much your mind tells you, hold your nerve. You can clean up later. DO NOT: swim away because tigers love to swim too. DO NOT: climb up trees to avoid them because the answer is in the video. About #182: I thought again to this " NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS!! " video. The nature show is cruel, the struggle for life is very cruel. But the first hyena isn't cruel. Not cruel but voracious. Voracious like a child coming back from the school at the end of the afternoon and discovering a piece of cake. Immediately, he takes advantage of it. So did the first hyena which immediately took advantage of it, because a piece of flesh was firmly hold by a leopard, by the leopard. Voracious like this hyena, voracious like the foresaid child, voracious like a bovid occurring into a field of fresh grass. Piece of flesh, piece of grass, piece of cake what difference ? This arm warthog was only a living being. A still living being while he got torn, we could add. "Only" for us, human being. We have a conscience. And some sensibility too. We witnessed a show of the hyena's voracity, as simply as that. This hyena didn't take a life, he ate. The life can change from one instant, one second, to the other. The life of the warthog, the life of a piece of grass. And can be very cruel for us, viewers, and for farmers too (sensibility connected to their fields)... We are weird and the nature is implacable.

Unexpected footage was discovered by scientists from the "Land of the Leopard" when testing a video trap installed opposite the entrance to one of the caves. The camera recorded how a large Amur tiger was trying to crawl into the grotto, while the female from the Far Eastern leopard was leaving the next record from the shelter.

March 2017, This was our maiden trip to tadoba. Being from bangalore, our wildlife trips always revovled around the niligiri bioshpere, having done many trips to bandipur, kabini and masinagudi, we are used to a thick canopy of jungle. Leopards are spotted more often than tigers, though one has to be really lucky to spot either of them. This trip to Tadoba in particular was expected to be more lucky to spot a tiger than any other predator. It was our second safari of the trip, we were quite late to get us a slot in the core zone so we settled for the buffer zone. We were almost an hour and odd into the safari, our guide saw some fresh tiger pug marks which he belevied to be of a dominating mother of two cubs in that terriroty, so with those pug marks and a few alarm calls we follow our luck. while the alarm calls faded away and the pug marks disappered, we were a little tired and drove back to the gate for a quick break. We then headed back to the jungle and this time around our guide was taking us to a water hole nearby where we could wait and watch. While on our way, I kept looking at the tree pearches and branches for any leopard movement, (bandipur and kabini got us addicted to this habit) even though i know the chances are very very less and it is all about the luck. It was fairly a straight road with tall trees on either sides, the driver suddenly stops and I hear folks in the jeep whispering "wild dog". Even before I could react to that I see a leopard on my right taking a leap from one tree to another. Here’s what happened, at first everyone saw a pack of wild dogs, few on the road and few on the right side acting restless, then we see this leopard on a perch which is on high alert. It was the pack which was chasing this leopard. I took off my camera, trying to get a shot of the leopard and then i see there is a head that keeps popping up at the end of the frame, there was this one wild dog, which never gave up in spite of the leopard climbing the tree, so it too climbed the tree and gave the leopard a run for its life. the action lasted for about a few minutes, the dog chasing the leopard from one tree to another, the leopard trying to scare the dog and finally gives up and leaves the place to head deep inside the jungle away from the pack. This is first time we saw the power of the pack, have heard stories about its daringness to bring down massively sized prey, but in this case, it was even daring to face another predator double of its size. Just an example of how things can unwind and be unpredictable in the wild. I feel blessed to have witnessed it. This frame will be cherished forever.  *This image is copyright of its original author
