They're back at Mjejane now and according to Kingfisher River Lodge he's on the mends. Definitely not a great time for them to start exploring other areas given the seven (7) cubs they currently have with the Mjejane lionesses. Apparently the information in my original post is a tad bit dated, my bad. Here's a more recent clip of the darker maned Hippo Pools male in which he's healed up more.

Can't say for absolutely certainty but I think only the darker maned male was attacked.
