There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Sparta/Eyrefield males vs old Jock males KNP
. We left 7am and drove along the Sabie River road from Lower Sabie camp. At 7.20m we came across two male lions, they had huge manes, one a black mane the other golden. They were moving on quickly and we followed. They would walk along the road then into the bush then back on the road. They disappeared for a while, then two more male lions appeared. These were both black maned lions, they were two brothers. So it was two brothers versus two brothers for territory and the right to the five females we had seen in the area. There was much roaring and chasing and we watched until after 10am.
The lions were continually marking their territories.
The carcass of the buffalo had been eaten a few days ago by the five females and their six cubs.

Three of them just north of the weir on the S114/S23 intersection on Saturday morning. Two on the road and one across the road from the other two.

Shishangaan young males - Casper and bros seen recently
Four male lions, one of which is a white lion!
They must have just eaten as they have enormous bellies.
They were seen on the S126, 1.7km W of the H1-3, just past Sweni Waterhole, near Satara.

What's going on with his mouth in these two pictures? Looks almost like his jaw is broken, or his teeth are missing.

The Styx male has this problem  with his jaw for a years now, I doubt it that is a broken jaw, because the teeths on other pictures are visibles ,I believe which might be an problem with the gum or perhaps he suffer a kick while he was hunting a prey (Giraffe,Kudu,Zebra etc).
Honestly, I don't know how he got it but he has this for a long time ago, but if you see clearly, he is very well feed despite the injury, so he doesnt need "help" for now

Yes indeed my friend, he doesn't look like he is missing many meals. His mane is really full too, so he is clearly well nourished. Thank you!

The last sighting of the Sparta/Eyrefield males was on December 2016, when the Mantimahle males  caught one of the Sparta and mauled it the same day,R.I.P
