Mauglis.

https://www.zoopraha.cz/aktualne/novinky-u-zvirat/6014-prichod-tygriho-samce-ze-zoo-plzen

"Jedna se o tygra ussurijskeho, trinactileteho chovneho samce" - Its an amur tiger, thirteen years old breeding male

"Zda se byt v dobre kondici, vazi cca 250 kg" - He appears to be in good condition, weighs around 250 kg.

So 250 kg at the age of 13. What could be his weight in his prime?

How many (& which) zoos have you visited in total?.. Recently?

Also will you be able to find any weight/size data of the Prague zoo's lions, both Asiatic & Barbary they got from Morocco?

This year none, last year 2, in life I dont know...30? I dont visit zoos as much as I did in the past...

I doubt that its possible to find any data on the internet on those lions. I could ask the zoo but all zoos are closed now and the staff has to care about different things. There are just asiatic lions in Prague. That e-mail above shows that asiatic Parys was 160 - 170 kg (but once he was 178 kg). Today they have Jamwan and he is smaller than Parys. I have seen quite a lot asiatic lions from various zoos and all of them are simillar to Parys - in size and in appearance.
When it comes to barbary lions they are in another zoos and I dont know any exact weights. Simon is huge and his sons as well. But another one was average (my estimate 180 kg) and yet another male was small. Lionesses are of average size, if not smaller.

So has this Kennion been zookeeper somewhere? They didn´t know him now in Marwell Wildlife for instance, so it would be interesting to know, that how he could have weighed these animals as he says? I ask this because so far it has been impossible to get any official verification to any of figures stated by him. It would be very nice to get something to back up a bit more what he states. Someone should be able to verify what he is telling. He seems to be ok, but I find it a bit odd, that no-one has been able to verify those things yet.

So far still heaviest tigers verified also by zoos have been Baikal (Cherry Brook zoo, Assiniboine Park zoo) and Igor (Odenze zoo) who were 250 kg. Btw what comes to tiger weights in some advertisements, they used for Igor 250 kg when he was 13 years old, while that was his prime weight. Aslan, lion, as known was 253 kg in his prime and then again 233 kg today as an old lion, 15 years old. So it looks like, that a healthy animal in good conditions doesn´t necessarily lose so much weight, this of course can be and of course is individual thing.

Then again as mentioned lion Nkosi was 270 kg, when he died and he was also an old lion at that time, but not even closely as fit as for instance Aslan is still now as senior, difference in photos is very clear. I wonder if Nkosi was heavier when he died when comparing to his prime condition. If not, then he has had to be one huge lion. Even bigger than I have thought.

It´s pity that from South Africa it seems difficult to get replies, that tiger, which was said to have been 320 kg would be interesting. In photos he doesn´t look so special, but naturally it doesn´t mean that he wouldn´t have been that in past. Well, in these days people have a lot of other things to think about than some emails about weights.....

Looks like to be afters swiming, but excellent photo, he looks like a real beast in this and seems to be in excellent condition, especially when that old.

Ok then, then things can be double checked. As I said, they had no idea about this Kennion at Marwell zoo when I asked if they can confirm any of these things. That doesn´t mean that he wouldn´t have been there though, espially if he was there only short period of time long time ago. But with this information it should be quite easy to check.

And this isn´t like it is with Aslan. What comes to Aslan, they have his weights in zoo records. All these claims by Kennion are something what these zoos haven´t confirmed, so we are talking about practically hearsay. Anyone working in the zoo could claim something like "we weighed this tiger or lion and he was xxx kg". Usually when animals are weighed properly, information is also in zoo records and anyone can get that information from the zoo (if/when they have time to reply). Like how situation has been with Aslan, Igor, Baikal, etc.

To me Aslan's fathern Tau (265 kg) much more fit than Aslan(252 kg) While I agree Nkosi is less fit compared to Aslan.

Damn how good photo of Aslan, he is there ripped like some athete, sprinter in 100 meters final or something. If he would have 10 kg more, he might look similar as his father above. So it depends how we define fit, ripped like Aslan so that you can see even veins or like Tau, something covering muscles under skin. Both are fine looking lions though. Maybe they have more activities for these lions in Norway or something with diet or both. But Aslan really is like an athlete in top condition.

Feel free to contact Craig on FB, I had skepticism early on as well but he has far too many images of him with these cats as well as great info on cats that no other person has presented.
In regards to zoos, hes not worked in years so it would make sense for modern day keepers to not know him if they never worked with him.
But like I said, contact him on Fb, he's very available and will happily discuss with you and answer whatever questions you have.
