There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Wild at Heart Images-Wildlife and Nature Photography:
Big Daddy.....

Bison carcasses draw bears. And bears.....well, they draw lots of people. There was already a small crowd watching this big grizzly boar when I arrived on the scene in the early morning. The old bear, whose face was heavily scarred, really seemed to be enjoying his breakfast and didn't seem to mind us watching him eat. I was told that there had been two bears in the area before I arrived, but this big fellow chased the other one away. I could see the smaller grizzly in the distance, patiently waiting her turn on the carcass.

Mature grizzly boars are usually not "Road Bears". They spend most of their time in the backcountry, occasionally coming near the road when food presents itself. I was certain this big fellow wouldn't stay very long on his roadside carcass once the sun came up and he didn't. After a noisy semi drove by, the big boar was off and running over the hill, most likely returning to the carcass again in the evening as the sun set.

I respect and admire Charley but whether his work is good or bad for the bears is debatable. If these bears become comfortable around Charley then they might become less shy around other people which, with bears, brings trouble.
