Sweet Dreams....... There's been a lot of activity on a bison carcass in the Yellowstone River over the last few days. From what I was told the bison drowned while trying to cross the river 12 days ago. The carcass remained untouched until it was discovered by a grizzly on Monday. Since then, large male grizzlies have been visiting the carcass most often during the early morning and late evening and one big grizz has even laid claim to the carcass. This formidable old grizzly has had control of the carcass for the last few days. As explained by Bear Management, this bear was recently captured in a research operation and is currently 21 years old and weighs 460 pounds. I'm not certain if this big boy will maintain control of the carcass indefinitely, but until then he's enjoying his prize. He certainly deserves it.  *This image is copyright of its original author
The "formidable old grizzly" ( post #209 ) appears to have a battle scared face to testify that he is probably willing to take on all comers interrested in this bison carcass.
Yes, and that's exactly what he did. What I thought was most interesting was the detail about his age and weight, data that can be helpful in the future as reference.
Credits to Wild at Heart Images-Wildlife and Nature Photography: We all know that bears are incredibly strong, but I was still amazed at the strength of this grizzly bear as he maneuvered a one ton bison carcass through the Yellowstone River. This is the same 400+ pound grizzly who claimed this carcass 4 days ago. The big bear was still there today, chasing off another bear in the early morning when he dared approach the carcass too closely. The old grizz is working hard to keep this prize to himself and I have a feeling he'll be successful....at least I hope so. It's a video, click on it to play.

There is a large, very dark, grizzly bear that has control of a carcass in the Yellowstone River at LeHardy Rapids. This boy is stuffing himself so much his stomach looks ready to pop and he can barely walk. This bear is said to be about 21 years old and he has several scars on his face from fights with other bears. In this short episode, which is reduced in quality for quick upload but is filmed in 4K, the bear can eat no more and so carefully navigates the river to the shore where he does his business before going to bed behind his tree. I have been getting a large number of people coming by to see what my video looks like and they get a kick out of seeing the bear closer, in good detail, on the screen. While filming this I had a young boy who had been watching the bear on my screen, and who wasn't done looking at he action. So, I had to share the screen with him while filming. The narrative is pretty interesting. It is great to watch the way people respond to the video clips, or watching the bear in real time.
Majingilane - Post #211, I had watched on "facebook" but I have no idea how to relocate a video from there. I'm glad that you have the computer knowhow. Post #212 is a nice video too.
