No. 211 weighed 597 pounds when he was captured in 2001, the highest weight researchers recorded... The highest weight recorded on this particular venture; nearly 600 pounds.
It never said "this particular venture" it said "researchers recorded"
Do you have any other "ventures" that researchers recorded a higher weight?

Those long face brownies remind me of the carnivorous Pleistocene Brown bears, and the modern dog face one is omnivorous.
I believe it is safe to say that any interactions taking place in the wild are worth posting.
Over 2 million years ago, the Brown bear and the Cave bear shared a common ancestor; the Etruscan bear, a native species from Europe that spread into Asia.
The Etruscan bears that stayed in Europe has later evolved into the mighty Cave bear, while the Etruscan bears that migrated into China has given the rise of the modern Brown bear species.
GrizzlyClaws, what can you tell us about the "long-faced" Pleistocene grizzlies?
They were just more carnivorous than the modern Brown bears, and some of them can grow as large as the Cave bear.
I think the dramatic climate change has forced the Brown bear to switch its diet from purely carnivorous to mostly omnivorous.

Although it was labelled as a "Black bear" by the local media, but it does look like an Amur Brown bear with the black coat.
The bear in the video is never seen clearly, but I cannot see a noticeable shoulder hump while I do see some rather prominent ears. These observations indicate a black bear. But his stocky build is very brown bear-like leaving me uncertain.
Here is the Asiatic Black bear and the Amur Brown bear with the black coat.

This is Sam a 1050 lb coastal brown bear living in captivity at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana. Sam's mother disappeared when he was a small cub so he found his way into fishing village in Alaska. Without his mother caring for him he ended up being fed by folks in the village and habituated to humans. That kind of thing usually doesn't end well when these guys grow out of their cubby stage so in 1996 Sam was captured and moved to the center. If you're passing through the West Yellowstone area a visit with Sam is worth the admission price in my opinion. He's the bear that's got a rock star personality.
