Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Grumpy bear – this brown bear wasn’t really grumpy, he was just defending his spot from another bear. The large male bears of Brooks Falls have their favourite fishing spots and will defend them, causing some nasty injuries to other bears wishing to take that spot from them. Fortunately, most of the time a growl and dirty look can go a long way to put off another bear without the need for a fight!

While cruising the river looking for bears a few autumns ago on a hot sunny day, I spotted a large, dark rock on one shoreline that I didn't remember having seen before. As we approached, it became clear that it wasn't a rock at all, but rather a huge, female grizzly bear we called Dark Chocolate having a snooze in the cool water. We did two slow drift-bys with our big lenses, then left her to her peaceful spot and moved on.

Post #481... Definitely an adult bear being very rough with a younger bear. Doesn't appear to be play-fighting. American grizzly or perhaps Syrian brown bear maybe.
