There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

I've finally been able to find footage of jaguars from the Llanos de Moxos also known as Beni savannah of Bolivia. I had hypothesized some time ago that the jaguars from this area could likely be among the largest since the ecoregion itself is very similar to the Orinoco Llanos and the Pantanal. It consists of seasonally flooded grasslands with large concentrations of capybara, caiman (including black caiman), deer, etc. It is considered part of the greater Amazon basin but it is not part of the forest itself. It is the third-largest floodplain in South America and one of the least studied, documented, and more remote areas, where finding footage of jaguars is extremely rare:

These were recorded in the Chuchuni reserve in Trinidad, Beni department. Just as I thought, these jaguars are massive:

@peter we had a discussion some time ago about which part of the Amazon could likely house the greatest jaguars, I believe this is it. This area is so understudied that this very rare footage is the best we can get at the moment.
