"This was one of the 3 amazing leopard sightings we had while at Nyika National Park in Malawi, side note, the other two where from our tents! The park is doing incredible things for the preservation of their leopard population, and their work is really starting to show with daily sightings had by the guest and staff of the once illusive leopards. We sat with this absolute stunner of a male for almost an hour, and approached him with caution, giving him the space he needed to fell comfortable. Slowly he began to trust our big white wagon, eventually to the point that he let us watch him stalk and hunt a herd of zebra (needless to say he soon found out that the zebra where far too big for him to attempt). This was yet another great lesson learned in the bush for me, if you show an animal the respect it deserves and give it the space it wants, it will (like humans) let you into their secret lives. "Finally after so many years of visiting the Kalahari searching for this magnificent cat, I spot my first leopard. First I thought it was a lion, but when it got closer I started shaking from excitement, I think they call it leopard fever. Finally I got the camera, but can’t get it to focus & just start pressing the button. I then remember it is not all about taking photos & made time to watch this beauty. As I can recall my husband’s word “HY STAP SO STADIG MAAR HY STAP SO VINNIG”. Love to share some of the pics with you. – 22 December 2017 @ 8.24 am between Kieliekrankie and Gemsbokplein.
