The rain is neither gonna avoid nor intimidate jaguars from fulfilling their missions.

Does anybody have any information on this beast? At first it reminded me of Pirata but upon further inspection, this is a different male. His frame is huge.

My guess is Mick Jaguar, the famous male from the Caiman hunting video.

Edit: I asked Paulo and he doesnt have his ID file on him but he's almost positive it's a male named Hero, he said that he'd confirm tomorrow.

Looks like Paulo was right, here's Hero with Hunter.

I'm amazed how huge he is, Hunter was an absolutely gigantic female Jaguar when I saw her and Hero absolutwly dwarfs her!

Yup, that looks like him, he's enormous, I confidently guess he's above the 130 kg mark. His head size is huge, his chest girth is massive and he has great body proportions. One of the most impressive Pantanal jaguars I have seen. Hopefully, they can capture him and get his measurements.

More marked sexual dimorphism, here there's Totin our famous Aurora female with Faculto, I wonder if he's the father of her cub

I had posted in some pages before about this mating pair, I'm not sure who the female is but I thought the male was Faculto, after further examination I believe it was Maracay male.

Maracay with Totin:

Another view of Maracay:

Totin appears to mate with multiple males, here she is with Marara male:

A different mating pair, Mapire male and Guacaba female. Noticeable dimorphism:

As a bonus here is this individual, no name has been provided and could be a female of impressive build:

@OncaAtrox

as @Pckts already mentioned That is Hero male. Trust me I am good at memorizing jaguars individual's differences on who's who. Excited

On your post #569 The top video is a young male named Pinche, it seems he will be a big one. the other ones bellow were pics of Juru you nailed one Huh   the last video obviously those are from Venezuela.

Check this out.

Same jag in 5 years.                                                                                                        different looking rossetes are easier to identify

Theres a female jag in south pantanal named Borboleta ( butterfly in portuguese ) she's got a butterfly on her forehead.

Shes got different rossetes patterns than usual.

Each person can ''create'' the identification patterns by minds but others may not notice it clearly and create their own identification way.

For example Hero male got black eyes as well as a ''V''  on his forehead ( others have a ''W'' ) and he is also starting to age. For a comparison Xando male despite having lazy eyes I see he also has an ''L'' on his forehead but other people will see a ''U'' whereas Bororo (his brother) got a ''caterpillar'' on his left side after the shoulder and he already got ''blessed'' with his tip tail gone most likely devoured by piranhas,  Mick/Pirate or Mick Jaguar ( I call him just Mick ) despite his clear missing right eye he got on the right side of his rib one spot alone  ( outside of the rosette ) these spots alone makes it way clear (for me) to identify individuals because that spot alone with rosettes around it automatically creates a star shaped Flower, some jaguars don't have it due to many rossetes together makes no room for a spot alone, Juru also got that ''flower'' but on his right top hind leg/hind quarter meanwhile Scarface male has that ''flower'' on both sides. theres a male named ''Pirate'' in south pantanal too.

Mick on the right side, on this angle you can see on his rib the single spot ( outside of rossetes ) the five rossetes around that single spot turns into a star shaped flower if you look all over it at once. ( I wish I could mark it but unfortunately there's no such tool on the options ).

another jaguar I found with a ''butterfly'' on its forehead.

Yara old female from south pantanal has a ''W'' on her forehead but you can see/imagine other things too and create your own identification.

other methods is trying to find wounds, torn ears, missing tail tip, scars...

this large male from north I am very familiar with ( a while ago I posted a video with him next to a younger male both resting together on the riverbank ) even though I don't know his name or if he even has a name Funny  his left ear is already torn, he got a ''hole'' scar above nostril, I can also see a Scythe on his forehead  Funny  .   and aside from these details, his overall face is already pretty familiar to me just like other ones. by the way this male looks above 120kg he reminds me Sombra male.

*This image is copyright of its original author

Tusk male ( the aggressive one towards boats ) got a very light yellow colloration almost whiteish and his spots are a bit blurry compared to other jags.

*This image is copyright of its original author

some jags I just lay my eyes and I already know that's him/her Funny  others will take a little bit more and others are unknown jags to me of course so I can't tell.  those methods can be applied to tigers as well but using the stripes obviously haha.

I personally find many areas of identification even if the face is familiar to me in case I can't see his face haha I am a very meticulous person most likely cause I draw alot.

I am trying to find an option to score or mark over the jaguars pictures to show you the ''flowers'' and explain what I really mean but there is no pencil option to mark/score here though Weird  if you know how to apply these tools let me know. but I hope you got what I meant Happy .

and remember we can only identify the ones we know, there are tons of unknown jags out there yet to be identified, named... which will be a pleasure for me hehe.

Anyways Hero male looks more 120kg than Juru to be honest.  Laughing

I'm not sure what type of phone you have but I like to screen shot on my phone then edit it that way. I can then mark and crop a lot faster than on a PC.

In regards to Hero's size.
You remember that I posted a photo that i took of Balwin woth the Hunter female. Paulo told me that Blawin is quite a bit larger than Adriano who's a 130kg male. Well Hero to.me looks even larger than Balwin but obviously it's impossible to know for sure. That being said, both Balwin and Hero could be 130kg+ males, no problem.

Hero looks larger in frame than your average tigress or lioness. I'm beyond amazed with him. Personally my top 5 impressive males rank from what I've seen of Pantanal goles like this:

• Fantasma
• Hero
• Colombiano
• Sombra
• Houdini

I know Joker has a big frame too from measurements but he doesn't seem that big at first size. Juru looks very athletic and proportional.

@Pckts

Here I use the computer all the time, for me cellphone is not as good the screen is too tiny and on the computer I am more comfortable.

I found a website to copy the image locations I will post bellow, hope it works. Thank you for the tip anyways. Like

Yeah I remember when you told me Paulo stated Brawlin is larger than Adriano and I saw your posts on how impressive Hunter female is too but she gets overshadowed by the giants from the north haha, I wouldn't be surprised if Hero is above 130kg he has an impressive frame too bad he is aging already these dudes gotta be weighed before its too late. But this Brawlin male I am very curious to know his size if Paulo said he is that big he got to be weighed before its too late, theres also the male with the Scythe on the forehead he is very large too I'd guess he is above 120kg any day of the week Funny  and some from the south I am curios to see the size is Colombiano, the brothers Oreia and Grandão, Joker and other males from that area, we actually want all of them to be measured haha. There's one male that I really wanted to know his size was Xavier male, too bad he ventured north.

These current jaguars in terms of size would make a far heavier table compared to those from the tables I posted from 2000-2009.

What do you think about Mick in size? I don't find him that large but his head compared to the body is what impresses me the most just like Xavier male. they look so unique.

If you return to the Pantanal would you consider visiting the southern section on a safari with Onçafari project?

@OncaAtrox

These are the ''flowers'' I meant.

here's how I identify them.

as you can see on Mick's right side you see the single spot with the rossetes around it and looking over it all at once it looks like a flower, it all happens cause of that single spot in the middle.

Mick on left side here he got 2 flowers.

*This image is copyright of its original author

Heres the Scythe I see on this large male forehead   Funny Funny

*This image is copyright of its original author

Geoff male - note theres one single spot right in the middle as well which can also ''turn into flower'' for another clear identification.

Xando male the way I see ( with an ''L'' on his forehead ) but other people see an ''U''.

Hero male with a clear ''V'' on his forehead

*This image is copyright of its original author

Hero male from the left , you see his spots in the middle is kinda unique there's 2.

*This image is copyright of its original author

from the right its kinda unique too. ( that one lying is Hunter )

*This image is copyright of its original author

Adriano as you can see his face is very unique with a ''/'' on the forehead, the patterns over his body and around his eye all the way to his forehead on both sides, his left eye is a bit smaller due to fights (today it looks even worse) and his front limbs is covered with a huge stripe it also occurs to his other front limb.

*This image is copyright of its original author

*This image is copyright of its original author

Juru despite the flowers he got a ''flying bird'' shaped pattern on his forehead.

*This image is copyright of its original author

Geoff vs Juru ( both got flowers on both sides )

*This image is copyright of its original author

heres the Logo of Jaguar Identification project thats Patrícia female and on her forehead pattern as you can see it looks like a ''Bat''

Another one with an ''L'' on forehead, there's a ''W'' right bellow.

*This image is copyright of its original author

Medrosa female

*This image is copyright of its original author

this one has a butterfly on its forehead with one spot on ''each wing''.

*This image is copyright of its original author

This poor battled one looks so unique there's no need for noting differences his left ear is gone he is all battled scarred he is definitely a warrior, this jaguar is the proof that jaguars go all out when they really have to fight and they won't hold back at all.

I just hear too many good things when comparing North to the South.
I've obviously not been to the South so I dont want to speculate too much but the North is the epicenter of Jaguar sightings and a more established tourist center. The south is a little more rural and usually you stay on a farmers property which isn't as accommodating as the boats we stay on apparently. Also sightings are much better in the North as well.

Mick Jaguar looks like a good sized male to me. I'm not sure how I'd stack him up to the likes of Balwin, Hero or Tusk but I'm sure he's another 120kg+ cat.

I understand that tracking jaguars is expensive so I see why these organizations don't do it more often, but I wish they did, as you said big toms like Hero are now past their prime so they start losing muscle mass and overall weight, leaving us guessing how much it probably measured in its prime. Jaguars are incredibly understudied and we need new data on their measurements to supplement the Almeida collections we have. I'm also impatient for the Aurora jaguars to be weighed, my estimations are that males such as Pajarote, Tote (past his prime and probably deceased), Faculto and Librao are above or close to be 120 kg.
