There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Huge and old cape buffaloes. I didn't expect that from that young elephant in the last (too timid).

Hippo showing a Cape Bull who's boss

Mother Rhino and Her Calf instigating a large Cape Bull

Looks like a White Rhino from the side profile, this gives you a good idea of how large a Big Bull Cape can be as well.

Sometimes herbivores are bullies, here Gaur made his point clear. Poor tiger, but bulls can be bullies :)

I do realize one thing in rhino and elephant fights, that rhino not being very intelligent doesn't use a momentum from the ground level and and then thrust it's horn upwards, rather it tries to charge a thing (trunk) projected towards it and try to hit in a short burst, this cannot generate enough force to discourage an elephant and instictively elephant seems to know this and tries to bully with rhino a little, this you don't see with Asian rhinos and elephant perhaps with Asian rhinos it's more of a biting that worries an elephant so better to leave them alone.

There are many encounters and video footage. In some rhinos try to use horn so, that thrusting horn upwords too. Looks like to be so, that more younger and inexperienced elephant is, it is more possbile, that elephant is less aggressive and can even back off.Younger has shorter tusks after all.. African elephant then again is clearly bigger, than Asian, so that might be the reason if Asian elephant isn´t as eager to disturb rhinos. But for instance those tusks, which that one elephant had in my earlier posting.... it could push over any rhino without danger, if charging.

Gaurs defending themselves here in pack. Interesting to hear their voice clearly, when they chase tiger away.

One more about gaurs, they for sure don´t like tigers if noticing some nearby. First video is still photos with explanation about events. Text at 1:49 is funny, reminded me about my cat, who banged his head on bookshelf by accident Grin Second is short video, where you can see same situation.

Btw here is whole situation with that rhino and lions and hyenas. Lions killed calf of this rhino and in that short clip is part of what happened. Here is all what happened and how it ended. That calf ended up to be lion meal after all. But that rhino mother for sure tried.

This is one short clip about elephant(s) and actually quite interesting to listen what these people are talking. Tourism, when too much, can cause problems, if people don´t understand animal behavior, what needs to be considered, it can lead to odd behavior. And nothing wrong with animal, just too many tourists hanging around all the time.
