I dont know is this devise suitable for tropical arias and do you have rabbits in Venezuela but for North America its very effective. You just hide behind a tree, blow the device 3-4 times and after 10-15 minutes if you have a predators around they will come. But if a big hungry cougar or jaguar suddenly appear in close distance to you, you can get into trouble. Thats why is preferbly if you have some gun with you for self protection, this device is used mainly by hunters.

Thanks a lot for your valuable information, yes you can find a big number of Rabbits here in Venezuela, Cougars in Venezuela never attack people like they do in Canada and Jaguars always stay away from people. The last Cougar I saw was very close to me about 20 meters I was looking for him and suddenly we heard a little noise that came from a tree very high it was a Ocelot that escaped from the Puma and when I turned my vision I saw this large Cougar that looked directly to me and I really did not do much I had a camera but I did not use it, he just turned his back on me and I did nothing with my camera but took a few pictures of the Ocelot and a little video. I will never forget that day, hope some other day I can see another Cougar so close and take a pictures of it.

I don't encourage you to go Venezuela to see jaguar. It is very dangerous these days, and even biologists in Venezuela are not going outside to see animals. One of biology professor in my university. He is from Venezuela. He told me not to go visit Venezuela just like my Venezuela friend said to me. He told me story of VEnezuelan biologists are staying inside of home and city becuase many of them had experiences of robbing or met a gangs. The funniest story was the one of his friend, who is ornithologist. He (probably with other biologists along with him as well) was in field to check bird's nest, but he met group of middle school teenagers put guns on him or them. They were like "should we kill these guys? Nahh, polices can come after us since city is about 5 mins away. I don't want to clean up dead bodies after I shot them." That is the only reason why he came back alive, and him and others who were with him are not going field to see birds. I heard this is pretty normal in Venezuela unless if you are living in rich people area. You can live 1 year with 30~40 dollars in Venezeual today, even polices are trying to take money from you if you are foreigner. I hope Venezuela's situation would be better. I really want to go visit Angel fall, Los Llanos, Mount Roraima, and Orinoco Delta.
My professor said you can go visit Angel fall safely if you call guide, but it will be really expensive.

Which place is better between Pantanal vs Los Llanos?
I heard Los Llanos is way cheaper than the Pantal, not even half price, but it is equal of watching wildlife in Pantanal. You can see green anaconda and river dolphin in Los Llanos, while Pantanal don't have those animals. Pantanal is the best place to see jaguar and giant otter, but very expensive. And when is the dry and rainy seasons in Los Llanos? The Pantanal have a rainy season between December to March and a dry season is May to October. I think Los Llanos is opposite from Patanal. When is the best season to see wildlife in Los Llanos?

Interesting @epaiva . If you succeed to post in youtube a scene with cougar hunting ocelot it will probably become a super hit. Around Vancouver there are also a lot of big cougars but its almost imposible to spot them, very secretive creatures. In Pacific coast of Canada the pine trees are gigantic, 3-4 metters wide and 50 metters tall, allways green, you cant see what animals are hiding on the top of this colossal trees, the forest is wet, rainy and fogy, not a big pleasure for me to walk in this damp forests, and also frankly I am not a big fan of the cougars, my favourite animal in North America is grey wolf.
Probably if we go again to Costa Rica we'll try make a night safari in the jungles with flash lights, many local hotels offer this service for tourists, probably the chance to catch jaguar or other wild cat is bigger.

@Greatearth thanks, dont worry I am not going to visit Venezuela now, in all countries of Latin America with exception of island states its dangerous for foreigners. Nevertheless I fell in love with Latin America, Latino people know how to enjoy the life in contrast with people in North America who know only how to work... Also beside jaguars I am curious to see Venezuela women, famous with their exceptional beauty....

@Greatearth
Los Llanos is a lot cheaper than el Pantanal, you can stay in a few big ranches called Hatos and you pay from 100 to 120 dollars a day, they take you out to see the wildlife two times a day and give you your 3 meals. Pantanal is the paradise to see Jaguars but Venezuelan Llanos is the paradise to see Green Anacondas and yes you can see River Dolphins all year for sure because people in Venezuela don't hunt them. Los Llanos have the rainy season from mid May to October and the dry season the rest of the year with the peak of the season from January to April. Venezuelan Llanos are a lot like Pantanal but very small compared to el Pantanal. The best time of the year to see the wildlife in los Llanos is the dry season.

You are very good informed about the very bad situation in Venezuela, not long time ago I went to see the wildlife in the Venezuelan Llanos 2 or 3 times a year but now I have to stay here at home because it is too dangerous to go out.

Madidi National Park in Bolivia is good place to see wild jaguar. I am sure you probably need a guide and stay at least 7 days to see wild jaguar.
Madidi National Park has diverse environments: glacier in high Andes Mountains, clouded forest, and tropical rainforest.
These are Amazonian jaguars, they are smaller than the Los Llanos jaguars & Pantanal jaguars, but I heard they are prettier. The Pantanal jaguar is the biggest and baddest, but many of them are ugly, especially for male. Not sure of Los Llanos jaguar since they are elusive. I am more interested in jaguars from other areas besides Pantanal since they are shy, mysterious, and difficult to find them like jaguars in Los Llanos, Atlantic forest, Cerrado, Caatinga, Amazon rainforest, Orinoco delta, and others. I don't know if Central America had different types of jaguar even though Central America has diverse ecoregion like flood plain, swamp, rainforest, and clouded forest.

What's going on in Venezuela seriously? I do know current president is extreme left-wing.
Isn't it possible to change president and make it better? Do you think Venezuela will become "okay" place to travel in next 3 years?

"Prettier", "ugly, specially for male". Pretty subjective, aren't we?

We all are, in several ways depending on the animal.

I tend to get a lof of heat because I don't hold back on calling hyenas ugly, and there are others that usually do that distinction with Asian lions.

Yeah well, using normie value judgement to describe animals  is really pointless, more specially when making distinctions between individuals of the same species. Just saying...

Don't you do it? Because the variation and distinction there is can be quite distinctive.

So, don't you have favourites?

I don't think I'm making myself clear. Is there variation? Absolutely. Do I make distinctions between individuals? Of course. Do I have favorites? I do.  But is not the same when someone says for example: "X tiger is darker and has a narrower face than Y tiger", than "X tiger is uglier than Y tiger". The first is making a clear differentiation between the two, while the second is just open to interpretation.
You're a big cat enthusiast, and to answer your question, I personally like grayish lions with yellowish underparts, uncovered shoulders and big faces more than plain colored ones with proportioned faces and half the body covered by the mane. Am I implying to you that ones are superior to the others? Nope. But most importantly, you'll most probably know what type I'm referring to. But if I had said instead "I like pretty lions more than ugly lions", I don't think you'll know which ones I'm referring to.

Saludos. Y por cierto gracias por las imágenes de leones que compartes, son de mis favoritas del foro.

These are considered a very large Bolivian Jaguar pug mark, this is a good sized man's hand for comparison.
