Scar, Musketeer male. As is his costume, he was mating with his girl.

(I'm not sure if he ever sleeps, but I guess the lasses need to sleep some time, so he has no choice...)

Lipstick And Blackie.

Scientists say males are past their prime at 9, don't tell these two guys that! Both were past the age of 9 years old when they took over the unsuccessful Topi plains pride. Only 2 cubs of many had made it to maturity before they came, only one is still alive. Since then, the Topi plains pride has thrived under these two old men.

Surprised to see 26 month old sub-adults mating and trying to take over offbeat pride.
May be its typo.

Also in another post I have read 3 year old males trying to take over..
Looks like Mara lions mature earlier than other african lions?

@Tshokwane
@Ngala

Any thoughts?

Rainbow  ( This post was last modified: 11-30-2022, 10:14 AM by SalemMagi Edit Reason: Spearboy identification update )

I am trying to embed this video but it is not showing up in the preview. Here is the link just in case.

Is this lone male lion trying to join a coalition of 4 male lions in the Masai Mara?

Interesting dynamics.

One of the 4 lions does not attack the lone lion even though his coalition mates do.

I would like to know more about these 5 lions if anyone has any info.

Thank youu / peace blessings

EDIT Update: The lone Lion is the legendary "Spearboy"

Scar, a lion I have always wished to see and I wasn't disappointed. He must have one of the most spectacular manes I have ever seen.

I'm not sure, but I don't think so. I haven't read anything indicating that.
