Saltwater Crocodile - Data, Pictures and Videos

@ruimendes1 Post #96 of this thread shows you the skeleton displayed in Bhitarkanika museum. It is one of the largest preserved skeletons of a crocodile ever measuring 19ft 8in. The male itself would have easily surpassed 6 metres. My reckoning would be close to 6.5 metres making it as a clear “monster”.

Bhitarkanika even today houses some of the largest salties. Conservation seems to be more important than measuring and releasing them as it can be a threatening process for everyone involved.

Quote:The giant crocodile was killed in Bintulu, Sarawak, Borneo in 2007. It was 5.8 meters long. The skull is now preserved in the Similan National Park. It is the largest crocodile ever recorded in Malaysia, second only to the famous Bujang Senang.

Quote:The correct size of Old Charlie is 6.20 m making it the second largest specimen ever recorded to date and it can also be seen from the photo that it has a taller and more robust body than Lolong making it probably heavier, the photos in the documents below is evidence of this as they were published by the hunters who killed it and the Ranger who mediated it and by Dr. Adam Britton?

Quote:Photos of a 6.15 m specimen according to the 1982 Guinness Book edition of the McArthur river near Borroloola in Australia on June 26, 1960.

Official record but somehow the length is way off. My calculations put it at more like 5 m using the woman as a guide in the top image. The bottom image is of no relevance for size estimations as skins despite opinions can be stretched.

Crocodile measuring 8.6m (28ft). Shot by a hunter in Queensland, Australia in 1957.

I tried to search more info about it. But got noting, May be other member can help.

Old image is definable not from 1957. It's from 1914 on the Roper River Northern Territory. It's a bloated saltwater with people sitting way back using forced perspective to make it look bigger. Hope that info helps.

(05-23-2024, 09:55 PM)ruimendes1 This skull does look huge. To confirm 74 cm dcl you need to get a better image with the tape proving the length. It would be equal 3 rd biggest after Bujang Senang 77 cm , Paris skull 76 cm and equal with St Petersburg Skull 74 cm!! Possibly came from a 6.6 m giant?! Wrote:

Quote:Very interesting video which shows that Lolong would actually be 6.20 meters long as it is missing a crown at the tip of the tail which on average is 3 cm
