The 6th Nkhulu male

He is probably the most characteristic brother:
Pale, floppy eared and mohawk maned

Same IG post on 4th slide, a impressive male lion, could it be Dreadlock?

A brief update on the status of the Nkhulu in recent times (edit/update - 22/04)

1 (Smudge)
Lost mane but still in great physical condition

2 (Snip Tail)
Looking as healthy as ever

3
Fine physical condition but limping based on recently posted video

4
Fine physical condition

5
Lost mane but regained alot of his physical condition

6
Still with his normal Mohawk/underdeveloped mane but he's in great shape, better than ever

7 (Dreadlock)
no recent sightings

The 6th Nkhulu last week. Looking great

The most dominant Nkhulu, Snip Tail in Kirkman's Kamp with a Sand River lioness, calling out to the rest of the pride that was just lying down the road
(same sighting as #392)

Have they consolidated to a single general location, or are they still quite spread out between Kruger and SS?

Seems like they are consolidated in Kirkman's Kamp and a part of Skukuza (of which can't signal because i'm not sure where it goes and i don't know the map of Kruger)
But sometimes they go in Lion Sands too.

overall the coalition has been quite spread, with some males more in Skukuza, others more in Kirkman's while others missing for now, so likely they are in Skukuza due to this lack of sights.

I dont think their teritory is decent for now, but i dont think it should be enough for them to be scattering like they've been doing.

Agreed, but if these boys could consolidate, they would be nearly untouchable, they could do what they wanted, when they wanted, and where they wanted.

I don't know, they are clearly struggling. In groups as large as these, your own partners become a much bigger problem than any outside groups could pose.

I think if the group split in two they would be much more successful and happier. Being in a group of three lions would still make it easy to compete with most of the other groups, but with much less frustration from internal competition.
We might see a split in three groups of two lions though.

Definitly a possibility.
Snip Tail is way more dominant than most of his brothers, seems like the only one capable to compete is Smudge.

But the fact is that the strength of a coalition is based on different factors, including the health of its members. And as you said, it would be better for them to be split into perhaps two smaller groups, so that the less dominant boys would have some chance of enjoying a 'quieter'/'happier' life.
Another factor in the strength of a coalition is that they rely on numbers. If we have 6 or 7 skinny male lions and few members are limping, the mere existence of this group is enough to scare any neighboring coalition. After all, no matter how big or strong a lion is, if he is heavily outnumbered, he has no chance.

Unlikely atm

At least for now there are 4 brothers hanging out with the Sand River Pride.
(#386 4 SRP females and 3 Nkhulu brothers, likely Smudge, Snip Tail & other)
(#390 Nkhulu 3 and 5 in Kirkman's)
(#392 Snip Tail & 5th brother)

As mentioned earlier, 4 and Dreadlocks missing, probably in Skukuza with 6th male that is constantly seen with females that i personally cant ID

If they keep splitting up avoiding eachother. They individually become vulnerable, and wont have the big coalition advantage anyway

So have they taken the plains camp and sand river pride? Could it be they just have two prides and a pretty large territory I mean we only seen #6 with females

The core of the Nkhulu Coalition:
Once again the pair of brothers Smudge & Snip Tail, roaring.
Asserting their dominnce and calling out to their brothers

Sorry for late answer, but im not sure about Plains Camp pride.

a friend of mine came up with a recent pic on those past few days of which he claims its the Plains Camp Pride and the subs, so i guess it would be unlikely for all lionesses to be under control of Nkhulu brothers.
