He was doing everything to copulate, but she wanted nothing to do with him. There was a strong DR with displays, snarls and bursts. after a while Nusa climbed a tree and went to a thinner branch, where Shaka could not reach. He lay down on a thick branch and, looking disappointed, ended up sleeping. We saw everything, from a safe and really close distance, thanks to the incredible work done by @oncafari, which transformed @caimanpantanal into one of the best places in the world to observe jaguars in the wild."

She's 92 kg and he's 131 kg. Honestly I thought he was dead because I hadn't heard of him for a while so it was surprising to see them interact yesterday. As Pckts said they have the right genes to produce some big babies.

NORTHERN PANTANAL

Last night on Brazilian TV a special report titled The Rebirth of the Pantanal was aired, showcasing how the Pantanal jhad recovered from the devastating fires of 2020's dry season, Edno and Ti made an appereance:

Ti

Edno

He was mating with a female, the foliage around keeps me from Iding her, but look at the drastic size difference between him and her, his skull alone is twice her skull's size:

SOUTHERN PANTANAL

I'm really excited to see newer footage released today of a jaguar at Pousada Aguape, one protected area in the Pantanal that IMO houses some of the largest jaguars. They allow the jaguars to hunt cattle without persecuting them, so likely as a result these jaguars in general look unusually big.

Big male sighted last night:

To recap, here are other jaguars captured by camera traps in the area last year

This specimen of unknown sex:

This massive female that made headlines when this footage came out, I don't doubt she' 100+ kg:

And finally, this male, who in my opinion is top 5 largest jaguars I've seen. I wish we had more information on the age of this cattle to try to deduct the size of the male in comparison to it:

This morning we accompanied Tupã during his morning walk, patrolling and demarcating his territory.

Unlike females that maintain a smaller territory, more focused on resources such as water, prey, areas to make their dens and care for the young, males tend to maintain much larger territories precisely in order to, in addition to food and water resources, this overlap with females, thus being able to copulate with as many as possible, guaranteeing the next generation.

NORTHERN PANTANAL

Introducing Kaluanã

We received with joy the news from our friend @ailton_lara that we were the first to photograph this jaguar / jaguar in Porto Jofre, that way we can choose his name.

In Porto Jofre, jaguars are cataloged after identification, and whoever photographs the animal for the first time can always choose its name. Each animal has an individual pattern of spots that acts as a "fingerprint" for individuals. These patterns are used by researchers to identify animals in photos. We chose Kaluanã which in Tupi means Great Warrior. Registration Location: Barra do Piqueri - Porto Jofre / MT Date: 12/06/2020

He really does, his skull is massive. Too bad we only have those low-quality pictures of him.

SOUTHERN PANTANAL

I need your guys' opinion, this gargantuan male sighted in 2014 is in my opinion the largest I've ever seen, he even surpasses Edno in size in my perspective. What weight do you guess for him?

@Rage2277 Edno is without a doubt 150+ kg, he's said to be larger than 148 kg López according to locals, hence my amazement with the male I just posted, it is absolutely massive particularly around the chest area where he is packing plenty of mass. So if that male was indeed larger than Edno, and Edno weights more than 150 kg, we're likely looking at an extreme outlier here.
