There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
Clement Wild:" You have not gone to Mara enough times if you haven’t met this tough Lion. His name is Scarface. On my last trip, i was lucky to see him 3 out of my 5 day stay. The first day i saw him, he was in top shape and was mating with one of his wives. Two days later i found him with fresh wounds, a bad limp and he seemed to have been in a big fight.
Scar is the dominant male of the 4 musketeers and as many strong dominant lions, he is always going alone for many days at a time, sometimes trying to expand his territory or to defend the ones he has already conquered. With his 3 brothers miles away, It could explain why he was a lone during this fight. But that said, he is still one of the baddest in Masai Mara, wounded or not, he was still mating with yet another lioness. A True Legend of the Mara. "
Beverly Joubert:" A future king? This youngster in Kenya’s Maasai Mara paused for a moment to observe his human onlookers before turning his attention back to attacking mom’s tail. It is always a privilege to be able to spend time with these big cats – taking nothing away but memories captured on camera. "
Beverly Joubert:" His amber eyes glowing with determination in the afternoon light, this young male paraded across an open plain in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Although his mane may appear purely aesthetic – an accoutrement to bolster his majestic appearance – it’s more than that. The thick hair provides protection during territorial skirmishes with rival males; and a darker, fuller mane also serves as a sign of a healthier, more resilient cat. It’s a great privilege to observe these apex hunters living their lives the way nature dictates. Yet, even the most powerful lions are forced to exist in the shadow of human-made threats. "
Nili Gudhka: " One of Masai Mara’s oldest male lions protecting his kill from sub adult males of the same pride just so the younger cubs can eat. Very intense. Watch with the sound on!! "
