From Singita:
Some very exciting news this month, as the Othawa male has been seen mating with at least one of the Mhangene lionesses. This could mean some new additions to this pride in a few months!
“We found the Styx Pride trying to hunt down a zebra, but they were unsuccessful. It was a surprise to encounter them as we had not seen any of their tracks or signs of them in the area. One or two of the lionesses had deep claw marks on their hindquarters, suggesting they may have had a run-in with another pride – most likely the Mhangeni Pride, who were sited with a giraffe carcass on our northern boundary. Later in the evening, the Styx managed to bring down a male blue wildebeest.” – Field Guide Anthony Hattingh

That was 2 weeks ago, at that time N'ws where too in that area, maybe they encounter them.

I really dont know, perhaps it is a old one or maybe they have some sub-adult females, but in the pic they all seem to be adult females with some cubs. I really dont know.

Are we sure that this is are lionesses from Sand River Pride?
Latest news where that Mantimahles abandon them and that 2 adult females died, leaving only 5 sub adult females and 3 subadult males around 3 yrs old (sired by Mantimahles) who where nomadic in Kruger.
This is now confusing, are those 2 females alive afterall?
I think it was 5 males and 3 females. I do not remember when Mantimahles took control over that pride, but wasn't it 2016? Possibly one of their daughters did not make it and other 2 and considered adult now?

No, there was report from Kirkmans Kamp 1 or 2 months ago, 5 subadult females and 3 males where seen at Kirkmans Kamp, and that 2 older females died. And now Kirkmans Kamp reported that 2 older females are with Avocas and they have cubs? Very confusing.
Those females are too young to be considered adult, they are born in 2017 and too young yet to have cubs.
Either are those 2 females alive afterall, or are those 2 females from some different pride.

So yea, those lionesses are old Sand River females, they are alive afterall. After they got abandoned by Mantimahles, they decided to go with S. Avocas and their 8 subadults split from them and went their way (it might be that S. Avocas where threat too them so they run away, there where 5 subadult males in the pride, now only 3 left..)
This is the pics of Sand River breakeaway pride, around 1 month ago, south of Skukuza:

Hope they make it, sons of Mantimahles are already huge at this young age.
