Quite strange behavior, I mean we seen young sons occasionaly hanging with their territorial fathers like that, but that was few rare sightings.

This boy quite often hangs with 2-3 territorial males, like he is part of a coalition lol.

How old is he, 2,3? he still looks kinda small compared to them.

Does pride maybe rejects him? That would explain why he prefers his fathers, who might not be showing agression yet.

Olonkera is far far from a coalition member. He's just a 2yo subadult.

He hangs out with his fathers because from time to time the females reject him, recently they didn't allow him to feed.

When he was being pushed away by Olobor and the females would defend him, he'd stick close to his mothers and stay away from his fathers. He just spends time with whoever accepts him.

It seems either Olobor was the only one pushing to oust him already or Oloshipa isn't fully integrated back to the coalition as pride males of the Rongais and then doesn't feel like pressuring Olonkera since he sees the other 2 aren't doing that.

Well, thats then the answer.

I dont follow Mara so idk what was situation, but i suspected that was the case then, otherwise it would be really strange.

Olobor pushed him out of the pride, and he spent a good month or two alone on the outskirts of the pride.  I thought he was pushing 3 years old, but I guess I can be wrong.  Lorkulup (father) seems to have no problems with him hanging around, and I guess we'll see how this evolves, but after Olobor's death Olonkera came back into the fold of the pride.  He's a very good babysitter, but it seems as he is getting older there are more videos of him being a bit of a jerk to the younger members of the pride.  I'd like to see him stick around long enough to at least get Little Half Tail to tag along with him when he goes.

I know some about the Mara, but the Mara is a bit confusing to me. I seem to know Sabie a bit more but the Mara and it's surroundings are tough for me to get a handle on the regions and areas and whatever else. The Rongai Pride gets enough press though. Like, the Maneyeleti and Timbavablah around Sabi and Kruger.. LOL.. when the areas get too big, I lose focus. hahaha

Pretty much thats it in a nutshell. The Moms and Aunts had cubbies for a while now so since then they've been very concerned with him and make sure he knows his place when they cubbies are around. Olobor used to be the one to give him hell and as was mentioned gave him a little beating so Olonkera stayed a way for  few weeks. Oloimina/Lorkulop are extremely tolerant of him, for now. Well see if that lasts. Oloshipa I think just goes with the flow.  Olonkera sometimes hangs with Olobors son the Sniptail cub.

Oloimina and Lorkulop rescently let Kijana know what time it is. Im not really sure the  cumstances on hiwbthis came about. There also was a lioness there which Oloimina was more concerned with. I cannot link the short FB video for some reason.

As I remember, Half Tail started showing dominance to Oloimina and Lorkulop, and they put him back in his spot.  It was around a kill if I recall.

There was another video of Lorkulup reuniting with the pride and the Half Tail subadult male was scruffing his feet showing dominance infront of him. Hopefully he’s one of the males who creates a coalition with Olonkera, as I believe every successful coalition needs atleast one aggressive male. Olonkera seems pretty chilled so far but that Half Tail looks like he will be an aggressive boy, very stocky like Olobor too although I’m not certain that’s his father.

Yes, that's the one that I was thinking of.  From what I've read Olobor is the father of little Half Tail.  I've said a few times that if and when Olonkera is drummed out again, that I hope little half tail is of an age that he can go with him.

Action in Naboisho!  2 Ilkisiukisiu Boys vs 3 Rongai Boys!  Lembelang and Ole' Cook need to be very careful. 3 Rongai Boys have proven killers before so I hope there's really no blood shed. Lembelang and Ole' Cook have defended the pride for now pushing the Rongai Boys back. Lenkisiu, Olowang, and Oloilusa have held this pride and raised many successful cubs before, not sure why they would want it back?

In the Reserve, Olopi the lone Sampu Enkare Boy has found a buddy! Yes its the long lost Blackie2 and he's 11 years now and in impeccable condition! Where were you hiding my boy and how have you avoided the spear for so long? Hope they can take a pride together and maybe raise a generation!

This video, which I have seen numerous times already, just popped into my YT feed, again. It demonstrates so many things. For those who claim that lions are merely mindless killing machines, this videos serves as proof in dispute of that. Olobor was clearly intent on killing in this incident, and for whatever reason he was singularly intent on killing this particular young hyena. He seeks this individual out, several times, even after the hyena tries to hide behind the trucks. He seems to have a literal hate for hyena, and all of that is focused on the one individual during this ordeal.

It is also a perfect example of the raw power, and ultra strong will that a lion possesses, especially an adult male lion. Olobor is attacked by what the video claims is 40 adult hyena, more than once, and at one point has several of them all biting him at one time, all while he remained focused on the one individual. When he has had enough of it, he simply stands straight up, and starts swinging/biting anything he can get his paws on. Even for all the bites they delivered to him, he was never phased by any of it. Other than the one individual he keeps seeking out, you don't ever really even see him focus his gaze on any of the others, almost appears to be gazing off in the distance. Incredible footage, for sure, while very sad for that poor hyena!

It amazes me that people don't understand that these creatures are sentient.  They know what they are and know what they are doing.  They experience feelings, and are aware of their surroundings.  Read some of the stories of Sheldrick Wildlife foundation and the elephants and rhino's they save and put back into the wild and how many of them revisit the sanctuaries that saved and cared for them and especially the keepers that were with them through their formative years.

Lorkulup, showing his son, Olonkera, how it is done. According to the description, Lorkulup is the most famous buffalo hunter in the Mara.

I think Hairy Belly still has the record for total buffalo ride time, like Roger Maris' HR record, I am not sure that one will ever be broken.

Lorkulop, the Buffalo Slayer! The 5 Black Rockers were excellent buffalo hunters from a young age. They were experts and Lorkulop has taken it to a higher level!

Exactly what is NOT needed here at this moment.  I'm not sure Lorkulop would back down, and Olonkera and little half tail are nowhere near ready to help.
