There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Tigers of North-Eastern India

@Ngala I'm happy that the threads "Assam tigers" & "Kaziranga tigers" have finally been merged. But naming it "Tigers of North-Eastern Lowlands of India" creates another inconvenience.
With the number of tigers in Kaziranga on the rise they are shifting towards the Karbi-Anglong hills.
Recently a tigress died in one of Manipur's villages, indicating those areas still harbour a (hopefully breeding) trans-boundary population with Myanmar.
Also, hilly areas of Arunachal Pradesh like Pakke & Dihang-Diban Tiger Reserves are making a comeback.
I intend to write a post on Bhutan-India tiger gene flow after i have some more ammo.

Bottom line, can the word "Lowlands" be reconsidered? Indian wildlife authorities consider NE-India as a single genetic block...

Thank you for your response and your information @Rishi.

It's clear that we can not create a single thread for only one population restricted in a small area, but the aim is to group them based on many factors (genetic, habitat, ...).

For now, we have decided to group them, from northeastern India, under the same thread; in future, we can create an apposite thread for tigers from the medium hills of northeastern India, and we can add more information.

Many changes will take place soon.
