Vamos ➡️ Kanha Tiger Reserve
Here are a couple of our favorite snaps of a Royal Bengal Tiger we spotted this morning at Kanha Tiger Reserve ??♥️
.
.
.
Backstory: We spent the last 2 days doing safari at Kanha Tiger Reserve. Kanha is not easy to get to nor is it easy to spot one of the elusive and shy cats in the wild. We took the long flight and 4 hour ride to Central India in hopes of seeing a Royal Bengal Tiger.
Day 1 we woke at 4am rode to the park. We spotted deer, guar bison, jackal, boar and plenty of birds, but no tiger.

Day 2 we headed back and knew we needed a mix of luck and the instincts of our local guide. We got both.

After hours of tracking down the big cat we managed to find a Tiger crossing right in front of our jeep. The encounter lasted no more than a minute but was so exhilarating that it felt way longer. The tiger was actually wounded from a recent battle.

He didn't blink an eye at us and just walked by like we weren't even there.
One of the most memorable and authentic moments from our trip so far.

It seems like you picked a good time to go to Kanha, with a new challenger in Mukki and many spats throughout the park, there's a lot of action atm.
I'm sure all of us here look forward to your trip update, I know i do.

Male Tiger - Pench Turiya - I had photographed this New Male last summer at which time he was a new entrant in the core tourism zone of Pench, Madhya Pradesh and had just displaced the veteran Rykassa Male - the then reigning male tiger - life of tigers is no less than life of kings/rulers in the documented history - you fight and win the territory - you then rule the territory and with land comes the females, the waterholes, the prey base and everything else - while you enjoy all this you know that a challenge is always round the corner - and the day you find a challenger who is younger and stronger - you lose the territory, the females and everything else - typically a tiger will have anywhere between 3-6 years of his prime time before things starts to fall away

Magnificent male Tiger - Bajrang in its prime stalking the meadows of kanha...
No matter how many times you have seen a tiger in the wild or shot this magical animal multiple thousands of times yet the feeling and the adrenaline of seeing one is as good as seeing it for the first time!! This feeling never goes away...
Seeing this male tiger in its prime so up-close had to be a special one and to add to it, this male was by far the largest one I had seen or encountered till date in my Wildlife career!!
His sheer size and dominance was very intimidating and his one roar was enough to silence every single soul around. Definitely making his presence felt and showing who is the real king of the jungle...
The star of Kanha Tiger Reserve and MP tourism - Bajrang!

A different beat from my marine world...... An epic encounter with the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) identified as 'T46' in the wee hours at Kanha Tiger Reserve in Central #india . This male tiger hasn't been documented as much, so it was a privilege indeed to be part of his morning stroll. Thanks to the brilliant tiger tracking skills of Jehan Bhujwala. Safaris organised by the wonderful folks at @shergarh_kanha - @katbhuj@nevillegadjoturel India remains at the forefront of tiger conservation efforts and is home to ~2226 tigers from the ~3890 in the world (July 2018 statistics). Filmed

shergarh_kanha

Early this morning, we had a beautiful encounter with #T46, the shy male tiger who originated from Bhaisan Ghat and who is sighted infrequently around Mukki. With us keeping silence and distance, he warily padded down the road, occasionally slipping in and out of the bushes, deciding whether he liked us there or not...

In Nauradehi sanctuary, the forest staff are happy after the first tiger births in years. The reintroduced duo, Kishan & Radha, were translocated from Bandhavgarh & Kanha (originally Pench bloodline) National Parks to Nauradehi respectively in May & June of 2018. After a long wait the furry trio were spotted on May 9, said the officials.
Armed police were called in to protect the cubs.

11 cub births were recorded last week in MP, the other two litters being in Panna & Ratapani.

T-46 Bhaisanghat Male - on a winter morning in Kanha - Kanha tigers are the largest/biggest in India - in comparison the average size of a female being more than the average size of a male in certain Indian jungles

nikhil_sagar_tc

It is true, our karnataka(south Indian) tigers are smaller in size compared to other parts of India..

anantkaushik85

@nikhil_sagar_tc : true, likewise even tarai (corbett) and Ranthambore tigers are smaller compared to kanha. Interestingly, even bandhavgarh tigers are smaller than kanha - even though they are near each other and offer similar habitat.

Went to Tadoba with the specific goal of seeing this huge male and as usual it didn’t disappoint. Up close with the colossal Kankazari male aka Raavan with a sighting that lasted for over an hour !

The Hulk - Bheem.
We entered Khitauli zone of Bandhavgarh and in marely 3 minutes got to see Bheem - the dominant male tiger resting in the grassland. He was resting since 11 am in the morning. We took the position and waited for him to show up. The wait of almost 2.5 hrs was fruitful when he woke up, cleaned his body, had a water from nearby stream and then walked towards the road. He walked through the tall grass and then came straight towards us, stared at us, marked his territory by spray marking. He got annoyed with presence of forest department patrolling team, decided to change the direction and croased the gyosy road. From a close distance he looked more massive.

The Duo of Dotty. I wish they survive in future too, but presence of other males like Bamera Son and own father Mahaman, will give a tough challenge.. I believe one of 3 males will definitely mark his own territory.. There are males everywhere in Bandavgarh, the future belongs to the toughest and fittest..
