There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Survival in the forests.

The subdult male cub of Mahaveer female aka MB2 who killed one of the three cubs of chhoti Mada ( another tigress from the Mukki zone)

The killer from Mukki.
Chhoti Mada with her perished cub.(Record shot)

With reference to the title...
On our last safari in these historical sal trees and unfathomable meadows I was in mukki zone searching for this elusive Cat, suddenly we sensed  a very foul smell of probably something dead. Clear sign of kill / predator is around.

Suddenly I heard a small growl  and a tigress came out of the bushes and I witnessed a tragedy in front of my eyes. “Chhoti Mada” ( Tigress) was carrying her dead 4 months old cub in her mouth which was killed by this MB2 tiger in the picture. There was a blue silence in the air. She went and kept her dead loved one in the bushes , came out , she was growling, I can clearly sense the grief and equally rage in her growl, she was devastated. Nature.

All of sudden I heard a growl on the other side where she was sitting. The juvenile killer came out of the bushes. He realized that he has no chance against her. As whenever a tigress, especially a mother, is in rage or grief or anger, she can take down a full grown male tiger as well.

Soon as she saw him, she charged on him with a rage! The harsh roar echoed!! Scared, he ran away but all remained with her was a grief of losing her beloved one.

That's what it takes for survival in these uncanny forests. Nature. The survival of the fittest!

Choti mada with her cub.

I don't believe a tigress could take down an "fully grown male" but there are known cases of tigresses beating and scaring young ones away.

You won't find much on that way. These are actually based on observations by long time followers like Rage & @Roflcopters.

Anywho, that pattern is more common in the southern part of central India, right upto Srisailam Nagarjunsagar TR.

Kanha actually has a Male by the name of  "Thin Stripe"

Prasanna Subramanian

Throwback from the last summer at Kanha.. T-3 aka Thin stripe male was in a very feisty mood on this day after a brawl.. he has not been sighted in the tourist circuits since then, this could possibly be one of the last few images before he has moved over to a new territory

Sahil AK
Two Massive males of Kanha .

Kankata ( in front ) and Thin Stripe. (second )

Kankata is known as one of the most Dominating male of Kanha. we used to called him Fighter mostly . Coz he was always ready to fight with other tigers. 2015 Was his last season. Gt vanished in air. Nobody knows where he gone. There are many if and but I heard but dont have proper evidence. Its Still a mystery for me.

Thin Stripe male.. came from Pench in 2010 , killed Chain male and took over Minkur. He mocked the kanha breed for 4 years, showing the power of the Pench's Charger's line. And then Uma male showed him the power of Munna's lineage and took him out, ..
Then he fought with kankata in june 2013 but kk also defeated him.
Very Fitting ending for TS.
2013 was his last season
