@Rishi
“According to the RTR records the missing tigress is over 20 years old and used to stay in the western side where she shared with another tigress.”

http://www.millenniumpost.in/nation/tigress-missing-in-rajaji-tiger-reserve-424734

All newspapers are reporting she is 20 and missing since August. There is no chance of these two old resident tigresses to litter again.

She's probably dead then... What of the other one that still lives?

This is a great picture for Rajaji where the two translocated tigers from Corbett are seen together for the first time:

@Rishi, any idea when the other 3 proposed individuals will be translocated?

A new tiger reserve has been greenlit in the Central Indian landscape. The 4th tiger reserve of Uttar Pradesh has been proposed as Rani Wildlife Sanctuary. This is adjoining Panna and in survey of 2018, there was a presence of 3 tigers here.

This probably is not the right thread, but I recall an incident where a male tiger was allowed to take care of big cubs after their mum died. Does anyone remember that story, if so where to find the right thread? Thanks

@lionuk, that was Zaalim aka Dollar male aka T25 from Ranthambore. Check the thread male tigers with cubs. He is not the only male on record taking care of cubs after their mother died. P243 of Panna took care of 4 cubs around 9 months old last year. Different parenting styles though.

The male tiger which most probably came from Orang National park and was found 120 kilometre downstream on an island was rescued immediately. He was released yesterday after checking up on his health (he was in good health) in a DIFFERENT TIGER RESERVE. He was released in Nameri Tiger Reserve:

----Bandhavgarh news----
19 deer (of which 8 of them are female) have been introduced to a region where it was once a village, a historical moment for the longitivity of the fauna from bandhavgarh.
More females will be translocated to the grassland soon.
This is a great achievement to the BTR department, and also the NTCA, as without them holding educational talks to the villagers and the translocation of the village ---which requires a considerable amount of manpower and funds---it wouldn't be possible for this expansion
