On a very quiet, sunny, winter afternoon..as we hang around in quiet wonder breathing in the silence of the jungle sounds..One suddenly catches a drift of some action about to happen as some deer sprint out of the thicket..Next thing you can hear two tigers going at each other in the tall grass but not see the drama and your nerves are on edge just with the fierce roaring of these striped ones...a lull follows the sound of the battle and as we wait expectantly, out comes the winner with the prized leftovers over a young fawn...Moments like these catch you unexpected in the jungle

Remember that @BARKA guy? His rants made me look into the recent reports of tigers preying on elephants.
I stumbled upon two such not-so-recent cases from Indian newspapers.

KOCHI: In a rare incident, a tusker was killed by a tiger inside the Eravikulam Wildlife Park near Munnar on Monday.
Forest officials said the body of the tusker was found by the forest watchman of the area. A team of officials, along with veterinary doctors, have gone to the spot to conduct a postmortem.

“We believe that only one tiger was involved in the attack as there are only pug marks of one tiger,” he said.

RISHIKESH (UTTARAKHAND):, JANUARY 29, 2011 01:22 IST

A 20-year-old female elephant has been killed by a tiger in the Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR), a forest official said.

The half-eaten body of the pachyderm was found by a forest patrolling team on Friday morning, Uttarakhand Chief Wildlife Warden Srikant Chandola said.

“The killing of elephant calves by a tiger is a common incident in jungles, but this is a very rare incident when the tiger has attacked and killed adult elephant,” he added.
In the wild, expect the unexpected, as we humans haven't really much clue of what to expect.

Fierce struggle between Amur tiger and wild boar, posibly the scene is orchestrated for the camera with captive animals, cant say with certainty. The Soviet movie is from 1959:
