3 Mapogos in Djuma 2/14/2009.

This is way after the split and wasn't Djuma Mlowathi territory? I could identify one of the males as Dreadlocks since it had a snipped tail. One other something hanging out of his mane so I think it's Rasta. The last one cannot be Makhulu or Mr.T. I think it's Pretty Boy, but can someone confirm if it's not Shaka?

When the Mapogos controlled the entire reserve of Sabi Sands but not the south and Nkuhuma Pride, so who controlled the southern sector of Sabi Sands?

Golf Curse males to 2009, Toulons 2009-2011 and the KNP males later on.

So are the Golf Course Males the fathers of the Selatis or what? I heard the Selatis were grandsons of the WSM, so are their fathers sons of the WSM?

Yes, Golf Course males are fathers of Selatis a d they also come from Southern Pride, but no, they are sons of Rollercoasters.

As far as I know, the Rollercoasters were also sons of the West Street Males even before the Mapogos from 1996, so the Golf Course males were their grandsons, and the Selatis their great-grandsons.
During this period - in the 2000's - almost all dominant male forces and ruler coalitions were the descendants of WSM's in the entire Sabi Sands, from when the last Split Rock males were extinct in 2006/07 to when Toulons and Majingilanes entranced into the area. I think in the mid-2000s the only exceptions to this were the Split Rock Males among the major coalitions.

In order to gain a better insight and overview of the events in Sabi Sand, here are a few revised maps

1. the exact position of the Sabi Sand game reserve

2. lodges and smaller game reserves that build the Sabi Sand

Events of the Year 2007

9. after the Take-over of the Sparta pride and the dispelling of Scar (who was now a nomad and was seen from time to time with the Styx pride until he vanished by the end of the year) the 2 Roller coaster brothers made a move to the central part into the direction of the Serengeti male Rocky in January 2007. After the Battle, the 2 brothers returned back from where they come. The heavily injured Rocky had no time to recover because the 6 Mapogos followed what happened and finished with the unlucky brave male in which they killed and ate him.

10. in mid-2007 the Mapogos took over the central part of Sabi Sand and the first tensions arose within the coalition. Makhulu and Mr. T often clashed over mating rights and it culminated after a fight when the angry Makhulu drove Mr T off. Kinky Tail joined his younger brother and it was the birth of the two Mlowathi boys. They raided the east and attacked the Northern coalition. They managed to isolate and kill one of the males. Shortly thereafter, a 2nd male was seriously injured. Together with his 2 remaining Northern coalition comrades they escaped into the Kruger (the injured male was soon found dead there). Kinky Tail and Mr T were now the rulers of the East.

Events of the year 2008

11. while Makhulu was away with his lionesses, the 3 older brothers (Rasta, Pretty boy & Dreadlocks) re-united with Mr T and Kinky Tail a few weeks later. What now followed was the attack on the Nkhuhuma pride and their two dominant males Blondie and Dozie. By the end of 2007, Blondie was caught when he mated with one of the Styx females, heavily wounded he was eaten alive. Over months the Nkuhuma pride, Dozie, the young Sizanani and his brother were on the run. Many members will fall victim to the 5 Mapogos until they fled finally into the Manyeleti. The North was now also Mapogo territory, Mapogo City was born.

Events of the year 2009

14. 53 lions of diverse prides lived in 2005

15. 35 lions of diverse prides lived in 2009/2010.

16. the border fence around inhabited area and the Tragedy of 5 Mapogo sons: On more than one occassion the Sand River Pride were driven out of the Sabi Sands by the Mapogos. Five were shot in April 2006 and the rest of the Sand River Pride were shot in January 2009 after they were driven out by the Mapogos and started feeding on cattle in Dumphries Village.
This pride got out the Sabi Sands when the Sand River came down in flood & the fence collapsed in January 2009. MPB put out an order to shoot the Lions. Hunters (Willem Botha & Co.) came in with dogs - 4 male sub adults/cubs & 2 females were killed. The 5th sub-adult male made it back into the safety of Sabi Sands but eventually died of starvation as he was too young to hunt properly for himself! All 5 Mapogo sons were born in 2007.

Events of the year 2010

17. a little addendum why the Mapogos didn't conquer the whole south. The Selati aka Southern pride is a very loyal pride to their dominant males who have assisted them in territorial fights. Between 2004 and 2005 a war raged in this area between the Mapogos on one side and the 5 Southern pride males and their natal pride on the other. The 5 Mapogos tried again and again but the Selati pride was overwhelming with its 5 males and 6 females. The Mapogos conquered the tip of the south and tried their luck by taking over the Charleston pride. But the same situation there too: the 4 Charleston females actively support their dominant males, the 4 Skukuza males. The still inexperienced Mapogo brothers finally turned and positioned themselves in the middle from where they finally attacked Nhlanguleni. The 6 Mapogos, the 5 Southern Pride and the Skukuza males gave all and there were serious injuries on all sides. One of the reasons why the Mapogos later rarely marched south. 3 of the 5 Southern pride males moved into the Kruger, the 2 remaining will later go down in history as the Golf Course males and thus as the fathers of the 5 Selati males.

18. The war between the Mapogos and their half-brothers Rollercoaster has been raging since 2008. Both coalitions ruled and dominated the scene of Sabi sands during that time. After the 2nd Rollercoaster male was killed by a crocodile, the last Rollercoaster male accepted the young Tsalala male Solo and formed a coalition with him. Especially Kinky Tail and Mr T hunt down their half brother. On January 1st 2010 the Rollercoaster passed away and the Tsalala male was SOLO again as so often.

19. Dramatic events took place in 2010. The 3 Toulon brothers who were evicted by Mr T and Kinky Tail in 2009 settled south and took over the Selati/southern pride and the Charleston pride. In May 2010, a new threat to the mapogo empire made its way east from the north: the 5 Majingilane brothers. Kinky Tail and Mr T cleared the way up north for them because they were more central back then.

19. In June 2010, the 4 Mapogo brothers (Makhulu, Dreadlocks, Pretty Boy and Rasta) were kings of the west. Mr T and Kinky Tail continued to keep an eye on the Central, part of the North and the East, while at the tip of the South lone Solo and his pride of Sparta held their own. In the south came a new force, the KNP males Freddy and Limper, who drove out the Toulons. On June 8th 2010 the Mlowathi Boys Kinky Tail and Mr t killed the 5th Majingilane and at the same night the 4 remaining Majingilane brothers killed Kinky Tail. By the end of June Mr T turned back to his 4 older brothers in the West. On 5th July 2010 the 5 Mapogos marched into Majingilane territory for revenge. The newcomers fled into Kruger but returned after the Mapogos left the area. Why days later Pretty boy and Rasta separated from the coalition, disappeared for weeks and only Pretty boy turned up badly injured remains a mystery to this day. At the end of the year the next shock: the mighty Dreadlocks suddenly disappeared and only years later it was confirmed that his skin had been sighted in a hut in a neighboring village.
