They mentioned about one Adult female and 4 sub-adults well and healthy in the singhting.
Other female may be courting Matshapiri or have new cubs.. donno..
June 27: Other lions: The Fourways pride have returned! They were in northeastern Charleston and all 4 youngsters were present and looking good but one lioness is still unaccounted for.

Taken in June 2018 in mala mala according to the instagram messages. Looks to be the lone matshapiri as he does have the smudge nose.
If it is the lone matshapiri, he looks fit and i hope he finds a new partner and reclaim his territory and prides.

He (Mathsapiri) has similiar red and dark mane. Maybe he is.
One question. How many years old is he? More or less.
he and his brother came into mala mala and became dominant around september 2015. i suspect he was around 5 - 6 years old at the time so i think he is roughly 8 - 9 years old now. he seemed to have been ousted in his prime due to his brother suffering that catastrophic hunting injury so i think there are still many good years left in him to become dominant again.

Yeah, I did read accounts of the young Avoca pair chasing him around while his brother was wasting away from the hip injury that eventually took his life. He also had to contend with the Majingalani and B-Boys. I hope he forms a partnership with Skorro, both are about the same age though if he is still with a pride he may not have an incentive to form a coalition. It will be a feat if he can hold onto Fourways by himself.

wishful thinking but i would like to see him form a coalition with his two sons from the fourways. those 2 are almost 3 years old now, still too young but it would increase the rate of survival for all of them.

"After looking into it, we have been able to ascertain that this pride is called the Matshapiri Pride and comes from Skukuza in the Kruger. They are estimated to be about six years old and although their area of birth is not known they were first reported around Skukuza in 2014. Since early April this year, lodges in the Northern parts of the Sabi Sands (Nkorho, Umkumbe and Cheetah Plains) have reported seeing them and we know that they have also been seen calling and scent marking in Mala Mala and as far south as Sabi Sabi."
