A few pics of the boys from the last few days, they have been spending a lot of time with the females of the Styx pride. A smart move I think, because it gives them numbers they need for a possible confrontation with the Birmingham males, and also because it appears that some of the females may be pregnant, so this would make them more protective of the females, and of course the little male that survived the attack of the Birmingham males is getting a lot of attention from mom and the aunties.

A short video of Hairy belly in londolozi, making his first appearance there. I find it interesting, it may be due to the pressure the Birmingham males are putting to them.

The two southern Matimba males are definitely trying to stamp their claim in Londolozi, and they would be the first males to take a firm control on the area after the Majingilane males moved out to the western sector of the Sabi sands.

Moreover, Hairy belly was seen mating with one of the Mhangeni females, a pride that is controled by the Majingilane.

About this, Londolozi said that "Large cuts and open wounds were seen on one of the Matimba males a few days ago and we have now seen their tracks crossing over the western boundary in the direction of the settled and unassuming Majingilane coalition. What are the Matimba males doing venturing so far west remains the question. Are they actively pursuing the current territory holders in one last battle for dominance?"...
I'm not entirely sure of what the Matimbas are trying to do, moving so close to the border with the Majingilane. For all their size, I don't see them winning a confrontation with the other dominant coalition, so it remains to be seen what will happen. Who knows, maybe we will be able to see the epic fight we have been expecting...

So are they saying the open wounds were due to a fight with the majigilanes or the females controlled by them? It's very interesting tho cause they ran from the b boys and wanna fight the majigilanes?? Maybe youth has a factor in it

No idea. They know the Majingilane more, there is no doubt there, and I think they're aware they can beat one or even two of them, because they're bigger. But I don't see them winning agaissnt the four at the same time, after all like you point out, that is why they run from the Birmingham males.

Here, the video of Hairy belly mating with the Mhangeni girl, from Arathusa:

@Majingilane: after having seen your last video you posted, it seem that the male lion walking before the other one (when the video starts) has the right foreleg claw of the thumb wounded. Is it the outcome of a recent fight ?

Hard life...

If you refer to Ginger yes, he has an injuryin his right paw. It dates from some time ago, maybe two years ago I think I read somewhere. The general explanation is that a snake bit him. Apparently it is bothering him more than it used to, he keeps cleaning it all the time and walks with a limp, but I'm not sure if it is to worry much about. If anything serious is said about this(because there is a lot of stupid talk in facebook that he needs to be treated and such, something that I don't agree with) I'll post it here.

Here is a clear pic of the injury

@majigilanes: Thanks a lot for having answering me so quiclky... I really fond of your posts, your accounts, yours movies and so on. From where I am and live (Genf), to enjoy them is the best way to represent myself the daily hard life of a male lion.

Back to the subject: what a vicious snake !

Has anyone posted where the majigilanes are in the western sector when the matimbas are near the border?

No, not really. But the Majingilane are usually with the Othawa pride when they're not patrolling.

The Matimba males are making strong their position in Londolozi but sometimes they cross over to Mala Mala. Yesterday it was posted that, while the Matimbas(called Clarendon males in Mala Mala) were watching a herd of buffaloes, the 5 Birmingham males saw them and chased them away, only by later being chased themselves by Elephants.

Now, a few pics of the Nkuhuma young male, son of the Matimbas, usually called Junior. Notice how is mane is starting to darken a little.

He has grown up a lot, but his life won't be easy. First of all, he's alone, I'm not aware of any other young male in the pride. For now he has the advantage of being among his natalm pride, but with his fathers not anymore around to provide them with protection he's in real danger from the Birmingham males. With a bit of luck, he'll be able to form a coalition with some other young male/s, who knows even with some of the various Majingilane sons that are on the verge of being independent?
