There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

These jaguars seem to have very long legs, likely the result of a more cursorial lifestyle in the open savannahs, similar to what is seen with jaguars from the Cerrado, while in the Pantanal they seem lower to the ground.

Sensitive content

This stunning specimen was killed in Apure state, Venezuela. Jaguars in Venezuela are experiencing major hunting pressure, many incidents like this go unreported or no justice is served as a result. These kinds of acts need to be highlited to bring awareness to the situation:

Hato la Aurora
Massive specimen, easily one of the most impressive I've seen. This picture was shared by a tourist in 2016, I can only imagine all the nice footage that hasn't been released to the public.

As part of a news segment in one of the largest networks in Colombia Panthera released some nice footage from jaguars at Hato la Aurora.

The dominant massive male Mapire:

New male, I'm unable to ID him but he looks amazing, literally lioness-sized and showing that classic Llanos frame with long bodies and limbs, breathtaking cat:

Protecting Colombia's jaguars

Jaguars roam the rainforests of South America silently and well camouflaged. But their habitat is dwindling and ranchers see them as a threat. Yet two brothers are fighting misconceptions and want to project them.

Excellent short documentary of the work at La Aurora, Totin female and her son Cubiro.

Jorge Barragán, owner of Hato la Aurora, showing a male captured by camera trap photos in a recent news piece by the AFP. I believe this male might be Cachilapo.
